I feel sad reading this. But the story is compelling as it makes readers think and reflect about a lot of issues, society and stuff. Tamaki has one heck of a mother to begin with (clearly she has issues of her own). They have a poor living condition. He has witnessed/heard his mother do the deed many times. He was molested by one of his mother's many partners and she allowed that (she was there when it happened). He was used by his mother to gain more clients when he was little. He got sexually harassed by his friend. The regulars, Matsuyama and Yamanobe, at the sushi place he works in fancies him and his co-worker doesn't bat an eye and just listens to their conversation. He has become aware that his mother is grooming and manipulating him and is scared to be the next one. He's been through so much. I just want him to escape that town and find a safe haven. I want him to heal, be at peace away from all those people and find happiness.

this entire story left me speechless.... you know the author is a legend when you can’t decide an ultimate villain of a story... if anything the antagonist of the story is life itself and the characters ultimately triumphantly found freedom and peace with it in their own special way in the end.... the main characters were so strong it it’s so admirable bc id probs give up at the slightest of conflict i started reading this and it was hard for me to get into the story but little did I know some time down the road I couldn’t put it down and I ended finish reading this in 2 days.... 500/10would recommended the read.. it has amazing character development and it is one hell of a slice of life
