that's not it. From what I understood they are both girls. They are twins sisters. But for a reason we still don't know yet, one of the sister had to live as a boy (probably because the pharaoh needed a son to take over the trone later and didn't had a choice but to disguise one of his daughter as his son). And the girl that is disguised as a boy understood that in her world being a girl is not a good thing because when her sister died, people didn't really care much and were happy it was not the "prince" that died. So that's why she absolutely want to hide the fact that she's a girl
