in the novel, patrizia is chosen as queen because she was baren. U see, I this is the reason why the last test on deciding who's gonna be the queen is by checkup. They did this so that Rosemond will be the empress/queen by getting the current queen executed tellin that the queen harmed the child in Rosemond's belly bc the current queen is not able to produce children (as per how Nilla got framed in their previous lives). This is also to ensure that Rosemond will be the queen by using the child bc... The queen is baren and the empire needs a successor. So by gettin the queen killed, she'll become the queen.
