First things first, yes you do have a choice?? And second, he was not just a pedofile, but also a dick... he treated badly and broke ter heart all the time. The only right thing he did was break up with her (thoght it was late). In the other hand Mamura was always there for her and you could see that he was going to have feelings for her since the beginig, so the teacher wasn't you ONLY choice.
And I'm not sure about the autor shipping them,,, if they actually shipped them, then the mc wouldn't end up with Mamura in the first place..

They were so toxic trough out the whole story I'm happy that they kinda sorted things out at the end but its obvious they'll still face lots of problems in their marriage. Doesn't mean that it isn't a good story
