i would give this story 10 stars if possible. truly a masterclass work full of breathtaking writing and emotion. there are only a few stories that are able to speak to me personally and feel realistic, and tonari ni is one of them. i can not recommend this work enough.
if you have seen the notice you may tell that the artist does not want their work translated. though i do not give a shit, since they are a shotacon/basically a pedo. i will elaborate, earlier into their career as an artist before they drew for books they had a series published about a baby/adult relationship of 2 real people (kyungsoo and kai from exo). heavily sexual aswell and was labeled a "shotacon book". if you need proof you can just look up dear benjamin author. they are a horrible person and i recommend NOT SUPPORTING THEM. as well as anyone who ever brings up the book gets blocked by them, so they obviously are avoiding talking about their controversial past. anyway i just wanted people to know since it seems like many did not..

I'm glad Jooin was just sick and not intoxicated (drunk) or high, and that Cain bought him medicine and shit, but that was definitely the wrong fucking move. Cain always kisses Jooin when he's asleep or when he's out of it. And the weirdest part is that the author plays it off like its ok, just like when Yahwi had sex with Jooin when Jooin was drunk. I should have dropped this earlier...

i really love this story and have resonated with the story a lot, especially the parts about being taken advantage of by an adult while still only being a kid... the recent chapter though has truly confused me though. i thought the author was writing a wonderful work about the healing of a survivor of grooming, but now i am unsure.. no matter how much backstory and or emotional turmoil haruki faces she will still be the adult who manipulated a child for sexual favors to make herself feel better. there is no coming back from that..
i genuinely am confused as to where the author actually wants us to stand on haruki, but i can not in good conscience feel any sort of empathy and or sympathy for a groomer. i hope this chapter isnt a running problem in future developments, because i love this story a lot.. hopefully this is just a hiccup in the grand scheme of things...
