you’re completely right, you don’t, but you also don’t have to act like never forgiving people who hurt you is the solely correct response, especially when those people are avidly trying to change and be better for you. this is a lesson that applies in real life too, holding grudges and never letting them go in ever single scenario to every single person who made a mistake towards you can also be straight up unhealthy, it’s just a different perspective that I meant you should consider.

i’ve been in lyrica’s spot too where i’ve been horribly betrayed by loved family members, but they do care for me and most importantly they change. you don’t owe anyone anything when they never gave that energy back to you when it mattered, that’s completely true, but i hate that people who hold this to the extreme imply that this is the only way to have any form of self respect, and that you’re an idiot for wanting to stay and see the people you LOVE be BETTER.

i understand when they’re avidly being a danger, hurting you, refusing to change, and you have no choice but to leave for your sanity and mental health, but not when they’re avidly changing, holding themselves accountable and trying for your sake.

also she USED to be a bad mom, she’s not a bad mom now, that’s a fact you have to accept too, that people CAN CHANGE. it irritates me when people turn a blind eye to it to fuel their own anger, grudges, and hatred, it’s like they have no capability to be nuanced in any capacity. people are not solely black or white.

if you don’t agree at all that’s completely fine, you’re just as valid. i just get defensive about her so i couldn’t help but comment, but the conversation will go no where if we dont plan to change our minds about it, sorry for the rant (￣∇￣")

also completely true, the fact that she had to die for her mom to want to change is an extreme that should’ve never happened in the first place. you’re well within you’re right to still hate her for that alone.
