i see lots of ppl's takes on durian and i can say, as someone who grew up eating it, that it rlly isn't that bad T-T aside from the fact that it does smell quite strong, nd that it can cause high blood pressure (according to my grandparents), it rlly isn't as bad as ppl describe it to be. (subjective)
the taste, i would say, is exactly how it smells. funky, but not inedible. i wouldn't describe it as a completely rotten smell, i think it's closer to a chemically kinda smell. sort of like sulfur and onions with a fruity touch. the taste is much more appealing somehow tho. it rlly depends on where it grew and how ripe it is.
at first i wasn't rlly fond of it too. but it rlly grows on u and it's highly addictive. even as I'm typing this, my mouth is craving its taste T-T

The funny thing is, I just ate a bunch of durians with colleagues this afternoon(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
And now reading this, just like you, my mouth craving its taste (again).
I never had any problem with durian, like I ate it since I was like elementary school? So I really don’t understand people who hate it.
IMO, maybe for others the scent must smelled too strong and clouded the judgement (in taste)?
I can’t explain the taste like things you said just now, but apparently, like a perfume, durian smelled differently to each people.
That’s why for me, they just smelled “durian” and tasted sweet and creamy. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for durian lol
People here are forgetting that Rurin is a dragon much older than Ellison and this is fiction. As an adult with her type of body, I never really saw a problem with it. I would've found it stupid if she suddenly grew taller nd had big breasts just because of the maturation ceremony. I think her subtle growth spurt was enough to imply her maturity as a dragon, while still keeping the essence of her character.
I don't think the romance was forced either. Ironically, the moment she was first introduced, I actually thought they had slept tgt or had that kind of relationship lol. never once saw her as a child (she chugs beer like a drunkard in their late twenties). Them realizing their feelings made the story more entertaining and added to its charm.
