SPOILER:
The blond seme stays a douchebag and bites the other alpha, I don't think they form a bond but still bit him on a whim.
I suppose this is gonna turn into one of those omegaverses where the Alpha is an asshole and suddenly changes for the better when he becomes a father. LIKE NO! you have to be good to your partner from the beginning and not when you put a baby in him, (some with the worst manners like forcefully, I've read it all) anyway DISGUSTING...
-Dropping this
This was no surprise. That’s why even with this being an alpha x alpha story it means literally nothing if it still adheres to an uke/ seme dichotomy based on a omega/ alpha unbalanced relationship. The author was honestly better off just making it an omega/ alpha story to begin with if they were this lazy to make it essentially that but with the false plot subversion of the characters seemingly on equal footing within an omegaverse.
A true alpha x alpha story in my opinion would have had them be seke and equal in socioeconomics because after all alphas are apparently the best of the best apparently but I suppose a recessive alpha doesn’t account for much more than a taller muscled omega still capable of being exploited and weak minded.
If this were an omega/alpha story, still, I would drop it, because I'm so done with that stupid dichotomy as you say, even if the genre Omegaverse is not that old the fact that alphas are superior in every single aspect in life is almost (I dare to say a complete) Cliché (Though I've read an Omegaverse where the alpha is just a normal salaryman, and I loved that story) this story in particular follows that dichotomy and unfortunately makes no difference. so yeah you're right, I dropped Love is an illusion for that reason (last year XD) let's agree that the beginning of that story was terrible but now that they're parents is a "nice" story (I can't forget their beginnings though, I'm a bit uneasy when picking up something like that, is like for example re-reading a story that contains rape)
PS: I super agree with you, I love stories of reversible couples because that's how it is, that's real in gays couples. there's no Uke and seme (even when one of them is most of the time at the receiving end, lol)
Have you read "Dark heaven"?
(I'm sorry for my sloppy English)
oh it's no worries I completely understood what you were saying and agree. I have read Dark Heaven and I have a very love hate relationship with the story but it is extremely well written. I just have a lot of issues with the blond lead and his constant self destruction always being rewarded and never acknowledged for its own toxicity. Secondly a our black haired leads relationship with his cousin and family at some points made sooo angry for the cousin in how's cast aside and made as a villain for the exact points I feel were left unresolved with his unrequited love for our blond lead. The story is truly well done but we get a case of our leads being so self absorbed in one another everyone else is collateral damage.
haha well yeah, there had been a few loose ends, actually the after-ending that the author did wasn't that clear either, we didn't get to know the story about Simon's father (Simon is the blond dude) what was the deal with that creepy politician, was Veronica always acting by herself? did she receive help? and so on, if I remember correctly Lezhin wasn't going through the best of times so the author rushed the ending a bit.
You know, I never saw the cousin as a villain I did think badly of him at the beginning but then I felt sorry for him, whatever happened could had been resolved with communication but that never happened haha, and that's real, that's what happens in families, we tend (At least I do) to hide things from our family and we may not do the same with our friends.
Connor (the dark-haired dude) and his cousin weren't really a "family" though I felt sorry for both of them, one had a one-sided crush knowing he could never have him, and the other was in a total negation struggling day and night dealing with his "normal" life.
Least to say that the story focus in racism, violence, intolerance, LGTB rights, is a fascinating topic but a bitter reading. (with a happy ending)
I'm so boring... I'm sorry, I do think that dark heaven is a master piece lol.
(I hate myself for writing this poorly, I'm so sleepy right know haha)
The social hierarchy in and of itself is not a cliche. The way it's treated can be. And, despite the fact that there are a few more differences between the secondary sexes of Omegaverse than there are between the primary ones of reality that would account for the social hierarchy being so much more well established in these stories than in our reality, this manwha is using the cliche that things should be this way. So for that reason I agree with you.
I just reread this and if I remember correctly Simon’s psychotic step brother kills their father. At least that was the impression I got with the swimming with the fishes reference. I wish the author had expanded on that more or had Simon discover just how much he escaped from. I had issues with how everyone around him including Connor constantly had to handle Simon with kid gloves. I do wish Connor and his cousin had resolved their issues but it went to show how little Connor even cared for his cousin to begin with if simply finding out that they weren’t blood brothers was enough to cast him aside. I actually truly disgusted by Connor for doing such a horrible thing just at his parents behalf. And god were Connor’s parents a piece of work on their own. Just thinking about this story again gives me too many emotions. No one in the story is actually a good person but they’re so realistic and just feel for them despite that.
yes, totally, I'm highlighting omegaverse here but It's true that hierarchy DOES exist (is it do or does? the grammar part of my brain is not working XD) then we have animals insticts involved, like some stories are very exaggerated with this point. So social status plus animal insticts...
I wonder why I read Omegaverse? lol
haha so true, first I don't think Simon's brother (I think his name is Gale) had killed his father because the man went super missing and out of reach, I always thought he was involved in some kind of shady business, you know, the police said that Simon's father was an university teacher (a smart piece of shit), but they were rich, so either you are an extremely good teacher or make dirty money, if it's not the latter then why was him so out of context? why hiding? that's my theory XD
Well, Simon has always been the victim, losing Connor was the same for him as dying so he became a drug addict and sank in depression, it was so painful to read that.
In my opinion Connor's cousin never gave Connor the chance to get closer, because he was already in love with Simon (yes, since they were kids and heard him singing) so in a way he was jealous of Connor, but it's true that Connor should have taken a step forward once they were adults, again communication is hard. The only ones to blame were the cousin's parents and Connor's dad.
Now I have to re-read dark heaven haha I hope another manhwa like that appears, my top 3:
1-Dark heaven
2-Blood bank (which had a rushed ending as well... damn you Lezhin!)
3-Royal Servan/Raising a bat
٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
do I have to read another work before this? a prequel or something?
Nah but you'll miss a few things. This was adapted from:
