She was abused for years. both in her previous and her present life. What? Do you expect her to become the strong-willed MC overnight that you want?

Nah i just want some complexity, in her character and in the story.

Sides, its my opinion to have (thats why I said 'for me'), theres enough media portraying women beaten down in the worst of ways. Is it so bad that I would like her to stand up for herself, even if it is ooc? Though I wouldnt be surprised if later on she does get more crazy in the head but still...

I won't try to change your mind, because I think wanting more media with women who have control over their situation or try to fight it at least is something most people can relate to. I also drop manhwas that have weak willed fls/ glad with no personality (the villain's savior, I got married to a villain, the tyrant husband had changed etc..)

With that said, despite also being bored of weak fls, I really like Ruby. She isn't hiding away her bad parts and true feelings, just for shits and giggles, but because if she doesn't do it properly, there's a real chance they'll send her home, where she's beaten to death.
She isn't sympathetic in a cute way, but in a real gross kind of way. She's cringe sometimes. Her nervousness and fear isn't something that's brought up when it's convenient, it's the energy that keeps her going through all scenes.
I love fls who fight for control of their situations, but she simply can't afford that, she still has to fight for her life. She only has control over her own body *and not even that most of the time*, so she uses what little control she has to fuel her ed.
There are people who like her now, but it's few of them and most of them still wouldn't trust her, if a reason to doubt her came up. When people ridicule Ruby, they don't say typical manhwa stuff like "she's uncultured!" "She's an outsider!", they talk about her fucking her own brother.

Idk man!!! I just love Ruby. She doesn't just lie, she is a lie and she wouldn't be alive were she anything else. You can say a lot of fls lie, but I think Ruby does it in the realest way. I don't think the story is perfect, when you binge read it, it becomes blatantly obvious that the plot often moves only when things accidentally happen to Ruby. Lack of control goes with her central themes, so I don't mind that she isn't the one pushing the plot, but monster deux-ex-machina stuff is really not it. I'm really enjoying the Church/brother plotline so far though!! :)

I respect your point, and while I can get that she is doing the best the writer can make of her situation, the amount of plotholes and really weird and sudden mood changes get to me (like from Izek's murder-y type font, to her flowery pinkish type font qbout the same situation, gives me the chills wth).

For me, I guess my dislike of her comes with how powerless she is, and how even if accidental, she furthers her own powerlessness so much that it hurts to read. Cuz it seems so unhealthy, and even though the writer is trying to make it all romantic like, without the artstyle and fonts this, for me, could be a horror/thriller. Especially considering that she just doesnt or hasnt hit her breaking point??? Thats also scary tbh... But also what Im waiting for, and why I continue to monitor this story even its SO cringe some times.

Anyways, besides her powerlessness which isnt reallyyy her fault but could be dealt to if she took a long hard look at herself, or had some actual help. And also doesn't really make sense with the whole 'beastspeaker' plot line??? And with how good she is at lying??? Thats like the main component of half the manipulative antogonists have??? But she doesn't really notice that, which also annoys me some...

I guess what Im trying to say is that theres just so much she could do, just on her own, within her own power. Even with the current adversity, she has the means to do whatever she wants - its literally told to her so many times, that shes the duchess or whatever. Plus being in the runs with royalty, monsters anddd the church, she, if she truly wanted to could mobilize herself and become even more beloved than her brother. Or could burn all the kingdoms down. Whateverr she desiress could be hers!!!! And thats why I liked her being with the monsters arc sm, cuz we had the opportunity for her to grow on her own into a person who atleast realizes her own potential. But people keep getting in the way of that! Her toxic environment annoys the hell out of me too! But yeah, anyways, being powerless to the point where you have to like she does for as long as she has just doesnt make sense. Because theres no growth in it, its a very stagnant way of life and it doesnt really make sense to me. And in that way, she doesn't make sense to me and the storys dragging on so I dont know if I'll be bothered to watch he grow or not.

But right she gives me a combination of the hives and a deep seated cringe to this story
