I see that Hikaru wants to follow in Jun Yodaka’s footsteps, that she needs to sacrifice herself and things she loves to be the greater skater of all time. But does that man on top of the world look happy and satisfied? Does he have things he cares about and things that bring a smile to his face? No. He is lost in his own legacy and for some reason he is forcing the same legacy on other people. It’s not wrong to be wanting to be the best at something, to work hard and accomplish greatness. But once you accomplish it you should enjoy it. You shouldn’t discard it and move onto the next big thing yet. Even though jun yodaka has accomplished everything he desired, even though he retired, he doesn’t seem to enjoy anything… stuck in a loop of effort, depression and melancholy
