in the novel, this scene is more memorable. ian actually went with her mom and every other ladies were talking about her since it’s the first time they saw her. they concluded that she’s a concubine because of her big ass. the princess arrived first and told them off. she said “i have a pretty big ass too, so does that mean i'm a concubine material?” ian told her mother to be more confident and proud and tell those people her son is the youngest 4th magician. she did it and they all shut up. the crown prince arrived late and ask what’s with the atmosphere and called out those who bullied ian’s mother. he actually calls ian’s mom as “sworn mother”. he also introduced ian as his sworn brother, not just ian page. i really think the manhwa is less impactful. i just wish they follow the well written novel more closely like the trash of count’s family.
Wow this is actually so weird?? Korean novels RARELY get changed to this extent when adapted into manhwa format. Sure, maybe the artist adapting this doesn’t care much for the relationships+family side of the novel (aka treatment of his mother, defending his family), but I imagine that the Crown Prince introducing the MC as his Sworn Brother is a pretty important plot point… like, shit. I can alrdy tell the portrayal of relationships is gonna be absolute garbage in the manhwa adaptation lmfao.
The comparison is like:::
—in the novel: this is my sworn brother, my companion, my trusted ally, treat him well bcz he’s my - the CROWN PRINCE’s - sworn brother bitches, he’s *mine* I won’t let the 5th prince(?) take him to his side
—in the manhwa: and I present Ian Page, we know eachother a little but that’s it :P

actually, emphasizing his relationship with his family, especially her mother is an important point in the novel. in the next arc, a major event will happen because of his obsession towards his family and the precious person around him. when i said precious persons he actually want to protect, the crown prince is included.
Instead of directly communicating and saying his worries and admitting he’s anxious so they can talk it out, he resorted to gaslighting felix by guilt tripping him by saying “maybe you find me burdensome that’s why you’re saying that” and all. he’s clearly the one who’s in the wrong here but you guys are so irrational so whatever
that’s not my point? to be fair as someone who has a trauma, i know it’s not easy to open up but i’m not going to use my trauma as an excuse to emotionally manipulate other people. my point is, it’s my trauma so why should i let others take responsibility of it? individual’s traumas should not be use as justification in gaslighting other people.
I get your point however to be frank Felix is treading on light water now, it’s obviously a touchy subject for Gio but Felix keeps pressuring him into answering which Gio is not ready. And I apologize for my last response cause I was heated in that moment. Do I like that he’s hiding it in no, but he’s simply not ready to open up about that.( spoiler: he does in future chapters) and it seems people are thinking “oh if he opens up it would be so much better” to be frank it’s not that easy and because of that he resorts to other things such as dodging the question and having sex.
And to be frank again I relate to Gio with this I was in the something similar I had a problem that I was dealing with but I kept it in due to the outcome of it, and to be frank the relationship ended due to the fact a person had decided to put pressure on me to answer only for them to blame it on me and ultimately exploding back at me, and before that I use to leave where the said person was and wander by myself( like a distraction). So I understand where he fears that something bad might happen after the outcome. Mind you the person I knew I had a fear of ending long time relationships and only ended up to pressure me to tell them the truth but only to blame it on me. So yes I understand where Gio is keeping it in to avoid the disturbance within his relationship.
does this have romance? like with that yuhara girl and all? romance usually ruin good action and martial arts stories so i wont waste my time to read thisi f there’s one
edit: oh scrolled through the comments and apparently there is. please let me know if the author didn’t made the love interest a damsel in distress. i’m fine with romance in this kind of stories as long as the girl ain’t deliberately made annoying and always needs a saving.
She’s not annoying
