That's a hard position to be in as a friend; Knowing that a friend loves but isn't saying while you as don't feel the same. Unless the one in love raises the subject, then it would it be mean and awkward to to say anything. That is until both are ready to try being more than friends. I mean, until then talking will only make what is already known to both exposed and vulnerable, and most likely get in the way of a friendship. It won't help. Not talking may save the friendship, and eventually the one in love might find someone else.

That's all right and well, but it's like reasoning that the fox could've just gnawed it's leg off after being caught in a trap - if it really really wanted to be free and had a lot of time to work towards that goal.
I don't want to attack your opinion, just pointing out different angles; and I have to admit Tetsu's reaction kind of bothered me, since he was so vague like "don't fall for another guy and everything's cool" - and takes the guy home who was pining after him for 5 freaking years (while he was watching said guy mooning over him for 3 years)

Actually, I agree that Tetsu's declaration of his own feelings was more than lacking, but that wasn't what you complained about in your 1st post. What you stated was: "He knew about his friends feelings for him for 3 or 4 years and didn't say anything."- indicating a dissatisfaction that Tetsu had known how his friend felt ALL that time but never said a word.
Another problem with stories like this is they tend to be one sided, and we're not getting Tetsu's POV. Perhaps, his feelings have only taken a turn lately, and he as yet isn't supposed to be quite comfortable about it, hence the attitude issue (the mangaka deliberately was trying to portray?).
