**Analysis is based on the current releases on the manwha alone so, no spoilers here. Feel free to correct me if I got some parts wrong, but in totality, I hope my explaination helps :)

Based on my understanding, the monarchs and rulers are two opposing forces. If we base it in the current releases in the manhwa alone, it is said that there are 9 monarchs, to which holds great powers to fight the rulers--the subjugator for both the denizens (which all the monsters from the gate come from) and the previous monarch, like in this chapter.

With a little flashback from the memories the architect showed Jinwoo in the previous chapters, it can be inferred that there have been previous battle in another dimension. It was a battle between the rulers and their soldiers (who look like creatures with wings who descended from the sky) against the previous monarchs and the denizens. I think it ended tragically and they lost since as mentioned in the current chapters, the denizens and the monarch in this chapter were captured and imprisoned.

I think in the future chapters, we will be looking forward to great and grand battles. By the way, the gate openings and the appearances of monsters were because the "rulers" wants to do something on earth. Their purpose of ruling the earth or if they have another grander scheme is still unknown since we have yet seen them or officialy seen them in the releases.

Moreover, Jinwoo seems to be the incarnation of the previous Shadow Monarch. This can be safely assumed due to the details in the previos chapters. Him becoming the Shadow Monarch was because of the double dungeon in the earlier chapters. I think this part has been planned by the architect and the "system". This is the part where it gets interesting becaude of a lot if predictions that maybe

1. The system allowed Jinwoo to become a shadow monarch to defeat the rulers, and raise a shadow army or
2. The system is created by the rulers themselves to groom a monarch which they have a purpose later on

But there-s one thing I am sure of. Whatever the purpose and who may have created the system is either or neither of the above predictions, Jinwoo is becoming an unexpected variable to which they have not expected to become.

The system was made by the "Architect", in the novel (if I'm not wrong) the architect is actually the subordinates of rulers but then he helped the monarchs. After the monarchs won the war and start the conquest to eliminate Osborne (the original Shadow Monarch) the Architect decides to help Osborne instead. I forgot what's the reason tho
