Yeah- a kid watching something that’s in real life occur. Not a fictional rape. You know people have kinks right? And that fiction at the end of the day is fiction? As a young person who got into yaoi around 7th grade I can tell you we aren’t stupid enough to believe fictional scenarios. That came out aggressive sorry um I’m trying to say that ever since I started reading yaoi or watching hentai that revolves around drugs, rape, or toxic relationships I understood that it was fiction and in no way was a realistic depiction of how horrible rape, abuse, and drug are in the real world. Of course I can watch stuff like this now since I’m 18 but for me there was always a sense of detachment from real life and fiction be it anime, tv, or in this case yaoi. In reality children should know to differentiate fiction and reality or we’lol get another “video games cause violence” excuse, if a child sees or experiences abuse in real life then types that will influence their life however reading, watching, or playing shouldn’t.....if not imagine how many kids would die trying to playing hero. Welp that was a rant sorry don’t want to argue just wanted to put the perspective of an actual child who read yaoi from a young age. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

OK clearly you don’t understand how it is not the responsibility of an author to teach their audience morals. Fact of the matter is is that this is pure fiction it does not matter if young people see it and take it the wrong way. Thats not their responsibility to automatically not make content because it might reach young people. Those people should not be reading it in the first place. This is the exact same argument that Christians have used against the song “call me by your name” as well as several other events. This is something that is consistently used to silence people and to take away their freedom of expression. It was even used against gay people, in saying that “what about the children!” “What if they get exposed to those homosexuals and become ones themselves!” The fact of the matter is nobody owes you an apology or anybody for that fact for creating fiction. If you don’t like it, that sucks, move on. There are laws in place that are against children viewing adult material. If we are going to make a world where young people cannot find anything that they could “potentially take the wrong way” then we would all be stuck watching Mickey Mouse for the rest of our lives since we will censor everything because “youngsters might find it”

Actually since we’re still on the topic, this was literally me as well. I found it a year younger though. Even then it’s still not the responsibility of the author to teach morals to its audience and make sure the youngsters aren’t reading it.

honey as someone who has studied consent, manga like these are highly reflective of how fucked up japanese views of consent are. having sex with a blacked out person isn't considered rape, and the law makes it extremely hard for victims to report. also, they don't teach about consent at all. so honey you need to get educated before you start saying some bullshit.

So now im confused about your argument but what I was saying its clearly not just children that are susceptible to believing things are okay if theyre in fiction. In Japan they don't teach ppl about consent so real adults don't believe that having sex with a drunk person is rape. And they victim blame a lot. So it's not just about children seeing this romanticization, its ANYONE who isn't properly educated on consent. So as an author with the power to influence society, they DO have the responsibility of not perpetuating this toxic rape culture that diminishes survivors' trauma.

also its not just Japan, but you see it a lot more in Japanese media because shit is so fucked. in the west you generally won't see blatant romanticization of rape because we know better, but rape culture is still global. that's why its irresponsible to publish this stuff, and to upload it.
