I feel like as more and more of the plot is revealed I get more and more confused.
Please correct me coz I know I'm wrong ╥﹏╥
So in the story we start with the examinees and examiners - there's the village plot and painting / escape room ? Plot, then the brown haired examiner joing the examinees as punishment ? ( Why did he have to join them - I can't figure out how this punishment system works )
Is it a separate dystopian world where they just cherry pick people to become examiners - and why do they even need such a system. Is there some kind of God or higher system thingy ??
And all these seeming levels that the examinees need to pass - are game like - so in the most recent chapters the last two pairs are punished to go and spend time in the examiner city ??
And I have absolutely no clue about the past of examiner A and the brown hair guy and then loosing their memories....I just can't seem to figure out the world setting
Novel readers pls help ╥﹏╥ put me out of my misery !! ( Spoilers are welcome)

Pretty sure this was already mentioned by 154 that the system world isn’t exactly fantasy (which is true!). In the story it is a very advanced technology made by humans originally for military training purposes but has gone haywire lately which is why random people have been dragged in.
The system is far from perfect and follows its own set of hard-set rules (which can sometimes sound illogical, but it makes sense to the system lol). This is why there are so many loopholes that can be taken advantage of—and in some aspects, the system is also human-like, though it goes out of its way to avoid its human side,, which is why there are so many weird rules.
The two are punished in the examiner city because they already ruined examination centre that they were supposed to take their next exam in (since their punishment was to retake the exam) beyond immediate repair. The punishment in the examiner city is a backup punishment created for the (extremely rare, cough cough Qin Jiu) examinees who keep destroying examination centres and finding loopholes to break rules.
The system has a feature where they have a pretty strict hold on the examiners. Even to the point of being able to erase parts of their memories, and the system is the one that has played the part in removing the memories of examiner A and 001. There’s also this passive effect where the longer the examiners (or anyone in the system) stay in the system, the more their memories of reality fade (this also plays a role in why the old man in the most recent chapter (123) can barely remember anything)!
It has been a while since I finished reading the novel, so my memory may be a little fuzzy, but hopefully I answered everything you were curious about! Feel free to ask anything else (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Thank you so much ! your explanation was awesome (≧∀≦)
I have one last question, what is the relation between examiner A and brown haired guy for him to be so invested in his past and vice versa ( asking this from th context of them in the separate rooms on the invigilator shop where they see the tape? Of the past ....)
Of course! (SPOILERS AGAIN)

Short answer: they’re interested in each other because they know that the other plays a big role in the reason behind their memory loss, so they want to find out that reason.
Long answer (with spoilers and more background):
Examiner A is a core being when it comes to the system (half of the system is based off observations of the system from his upbringing). This may sound kinda complicated, but it’ll make more sense as you read it in the story.
Qin Jiu (brown hair guy) had come into the system pretty early on when the system started getting buggy and weird. In his case, he wasn’t dragged into the system but rather he (and a team of others) were deliberately—albeit secretly—put into the system with the mission of basically taking down the system altogether. The system kind of has its own consciousness, as you can probably tell already, which is why they had to be careful about keeping it a secret so that the system doesn’t find out and either kick them out or (as you may have guessed) wipe their memories.
Qin Jiu and his team were already given some preliminary information, so when he first entered the system as an examinee, he knew of examiner A’s importance, and therefore when he saw that A was his examiner, he went out of his way to cause trouble and get closer with A. Since Qin Jiu was such a menace (lol) they interacted a LOT. It definitely helped that examiner A just happened to be Qin Jiu’s examiner for every single one of his exams.
In the latest chapter (123) we saw that Qin Jiu went to that punishment room 12 times despite there only being five exams total,,, that was Qin Jiu’s effort to stay in the system as long as possible for the sake of his mission in taking down the system… he wasn’t being a menace for the fun of it (though I’m sure he would’ve done so anyway even without the mission).
The more that Qin Jiu and examiner A interacted, they got to know each other more and each other’s goals. Qin Jiu finds out that A doesn’t actually like the system as much as expected, and they seem to have the same goals, so they start working together to take down the system. In the process, they form romantic feelings for one another and start dating,, and I find their relationship to actually be super cute and funny (≧∀≦). Qin Jiu eventually becomes an examiner with You Huo (examiner A) and they work together to figure out a way to get rid of the system altogether (with the help of one other person!)
A part of the reason why Qin Jiu is so invested in A is because it’s common knowledge among the examiners that a big reason why Qin Jiu lost his memory had to do with A. People tend to assume they were in conflict and that’s what ended up resulting in A’s disappearance and Qin Jiu’s memory loss, but that isn’t the case. They were working together to take down the system, but ultimately failed, resulting in A getting kicked out of the system with his memories wiped, and Qin Jiu also getting his memories wiped while staying in the system as an examiner. Qin Jiu’s punishment room scene (where they started firing missiles) is the place where they had tried to delete the system but had failed. I think his biggest “fear” was them failing and him not being able to see You Huo (or even remember him) again.
At this point in the story examiner A has basically just learned of his own identity and how it ties to Qin Jiu, so that would explain his current interest in him. Though of course, they’re also pretty similar people and get along quite well, so they have that natural chemistry that eventually leads to their attraction to one another even without the system’s influence.
Hope this explanation satisfied you (▰˘◡˘▰) There’s still lots more interesting aspects to the story to build on the lore but this is the basis of the answer to your question!
I just started reading this and I hate how mc treats his brother like trash ( just because you have trauma doesn't mean it's justified to treat others badly ) and wants to " dominate " li you sexually - it's giving pedo - they're literally high school kids and mc must be in his mind 20s or something (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
I got that feeling too while reading to start. The bullying is childish and harsh, but he was a child whose mother died after being cheated on and abandoned by her husband you can kind of understand it as child. Of course hes going to hate the step mum and step brother.
As he gets older he's just cold rather than actually bullying. He gives him opportunity in his company, he acknowledges that he's a Jian and is important for the family as Suying is openly gay and wont be having children. He knows he's the future but he still hates what he represents. It's childish and he clearly needs therapy.
Li Yu is actually like 19 nearly 20 when Jian suying sees him first. It's still an age gap (i think hes 26?) , and he's creepily persistent and it feels weird, but Li yu is the rapist creep.
Jian Suying does not deserve what happens to him in this story, it's so sad, I believe you will change your mind about him if you give it time as I did. It doesn't excuse the bad treatment I guess but it's harder to hate him when you know everything.
Haha I get you, it seems to be the same for most comment sections here, you voice an opinion that's even slightly negative and it's all 'go away, stop reading!' Where I like to use the comments to see others opinions and maybe have my perspective changed. Anyway, I'll stop blowing up this thread now, much love (●'◡'●)ノ
