Why does this feel so cringey? Something on it gives me the jeebies inside when I read it... yeah this is rant and complains so don't read if you're going to complain about me complaining.
Maybe is MC having a japanese name and more westerny surname and everyone else have westerny names and the setting is also westerny fantasy... and his name and the "san" doesn't quite fit... or the way some mob is picking a fight after he just won 1st place in his year... or how his male best friend turned villain and his new best friend is a girl who's way too "caring"... or how he seems (mentally) more like a teenager than a grown adult that went back in time... or how author seems to understand little of the western fantasy genre... or how he had the brillant idea that being 1st place in that competition was somehow more viable than just... going through administration and making an appointment with the principal like any normal student would do... or how he didn't talk with him even after meeting him before winning... or how they exagerate the "genius that fell from grace" troupe... how nothing was mentioned about the cheating on the competition...
Plotwise it's also... bland. It's another regressor comic.. with the added elements of: misunderstood genius, lone wolf that can't trust just anyone, hated out of jealousy and basically the classic girls want me and guys hate me because they can't be me. Mc's behavior, personality and decisions make him seem more like a delusional teen than an adult in the body of a teen. And I also don't get why he can't use both close combat and long distance magic since he did use close combat magic by the end on his 1st life. It also makes no sense magic focused on day to day life to be underdeveloped like that. There's no way close combat magic would be overlooked like that... it could be taught of a swordsmanship academy instead since it involves a lot of physical training and magic swordsmanship would probably fall under it too. I won't even mention how bad the noble/commoner aspect is. It really just feels lacking.
And lastly the art... personally, i don't like it. Maybe it's cuz I dropped TBATE long ago but if people didn't mention it's same artist... I'd think it's a new artist. Hate me all you want but the art feels amateurish. There's a lack of detailing in the art, the backgrounds feel neglected or done haphazardly and the coloring and shadowing feels lacking considering it's a webcomic. And it's not a matter of style, it's really lack of quality. The best way I can describe it is... it looks more like a high quality colored storyboard for a anime than a webcomic. Remember that bebe about 7 deadly sins where they said they used all animation budget on an eye scene? That's how I feel, just there's no eye. The eye is the other thousand webcomics available on this site.
Yeah there are worse ones out there... but there's a whopping more better ones... and I won't read this instead of those...
I totally get it, esp that bit abt the names. They’re so cringe. But the art one isn’t really as fair I think bcos TBATE was super popular so they could definitely afford to have assistant artists doing the polishing whereas this one is new and doesn’t seem like it’s gonna take off so it’s probably JUST Fuyuki23 on it. The art quality of s5 of TBATE was really nice but it also started its seasons pff with about this level on the art hence ny theory. Tbh I might just be in denial bcos I like Fuyuki23’s art style and it’s the only thing keeping me reading seeing as I also hated all the things you mentioned about the story
It is a good theory. I stoped reading that one around ch75 and don't even remember is artist had changed by that point or not. I totally get trying to like a comic because you like the art/artist. Maybe I'm the one that got too used to the other webcomics drawing style and this style feels not bad but like there's something off about it?
Honestly I think part of the reason it was so popular is because the number of webcomics was relatively low compared with today so we'd eat anything full color and there was even fewer western fantasy webcomics, asides the Rofan genre. Besides the plot of TBATE was very novel at the time compared to this one and the its plot.
Idk... I wish you good look but I'll leave here...
I think I just really have beef with Japanese trying to do webcomic. It really gets stuck between mangá and anime... honestly there are some mangá that are made to read longstrip that comes from renta iirc. But they still go black and white like traditional mangá and it feels better. Honestly even trying to re-read tbate I was like... wait was it always that bad? I always feel like theres some sort of slightly mismatch between the coloring and the lineart in Japanese webcomic. And somehow reading japanese names and the suffixes they use on it feel weird? Like... as if I'm watching dc and marvel movies with jp audio and hearing them call idk... Piteru Parukeru-kun (peter parker) or Superuman-san or the animations but with that characteristic anime audio? It just... doesn't feel right...
But Mc is so fckin dumb... and the girls around him so annoying... and he have so much 0 personality... and again... he is so fricking dumb... that everyone else needs to be dumber so he can look less dumb... this was such a waste of my time...
Just a funny thing: I saw this comic in the last updates with the name in white, meaning I've read it before and thought: oh I'll have to check it later, maybe when it appears on my notifications. And then I got the notif of your reply, read my comment and was like dang which comic I disliked that much? Read the name down there, reminded seeing it and was like ... oh... that one... yeah nevermind then... I think I even unsubscribed from it... xD
I'm learning to not trust the feeling of" if it's white I've read it so it must be good" I get when I see it on last updates...
I don't really like novels and comics that make me cry... and I already know for sure I will...
But... but...
The art is so dang marvelous!!! Frick! The people that had the gall to complain about the artist can go shove pineapples up their arses! This is too beautiful and I can't stop reading it...
(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
For a jp hunter webcomic... he seems les chuunni than others... unfortunately this seems to be going collector harem's route. Mc to busy caring for sick sis but being surrounded by women... I hope I'm wrong and he'll have at least one male friend to party up with... I really pity mc's that have no same gender friend... that's kinda sad...
As I said, I'd have no problem with him being a bidge and connecting her with the company. But let's be real. He feels more like her agent than a singer now. First he talks as if his album was her "debut album" and was only a success because of her... and now when busking (called it) instead of showing his skills, proving himself and debunking that he's talentless... he is AGAIN focusing on HER. Having HER sing and clearing HER image.
Is this about a singer or an agent? Because it really feels like the later and that's not why I'm here. If I wanted to read about a regretful agent pushing artists into stardom I'd go read one of those...
I also see no reason for mc to be "genially talented" like this when he was such a failure in his first life. He doesn't seem like a genius. Doesn't have a "cheat" to justify his talent. He also isn't a hard worker that is training his skills to get better than last life on it. Even those immortals aren't really actively helping him with anything. The most they do is give "useless" advice. They are not coaching him or teaching him anything nor "lending" him their skills.
With how mc is acting I can't help but think the immortals would be better off having chosen someone else to bring back. I don't like that girl he's helping, but even her is looking like a better choice than him rn.
I make a point to read 30ch before dropping it unless theres a taboo that doesn't sit well with be. Them being: sibling (step half or adopted included) romantic interest and sa disguised as love story (aka smut where the girl is sa into "consent"). As this one doesn't have any of those I'm trying my best to read until the 30th chapter.
Now, if I complain or praise it isn't the comments section for that? Besides, by your words, if you don't like my comment just don't read it. But hey, at least im making valid points instead of just throwing hate and insults on it. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I honestly just think you can't comprehend the story at all because if you were genuinely reading the story you would know that he already had talent the only reason why he failed as an artist is because he gave up and threw away his guitar. Simply because he didn't feel seen or heard as a singer ultimately deciding the music immortals abandoned him when in reality it's because he decided to leave and give up on his dream.
Secondly, he has been a manager for some decades, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to not have retained some skills or behaviors left over from his first life.
Third the immortals actually do play a part in helping him and the advice they give actually help him as a person.
Fourth if he wants to help the people who impacted his life or left a mark on him he can.
Also to add on you keep comparing the manga to real life singers and their experiences and then also compare the manga to other mangas they have a somewhat similar background. Which doesn’t make sense in any way because not all mangas under the same genre are gonna be similar or follow the same path because it’s different authors writing these stories. Plus this is fiction so why are you bringing in how the story or the characters should act based on real life experiences when the whole part of mangas is that anything can happen and that it doesn’t have to follow logic all the time!
What you on? I made 2 comments is this... and replied in other 2 comments. One of them explaining why readers wre bashing on new singer girl, which turned into a conversation and the other agreeing with someone with similar opinion.
What doesn't make sense is you, who didn't participate in any of those conversations suddenly replying here acting as if you have a say in whatever should or shouldn't be said in the comments section.
You like the comic, good for you, keep reading it and move along. No reason to be obsessed with what I comment. You're looking like a fangirl picking a fight because someone criticized your bias... ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
I'd get if you came disagreeing and pointing out nice points of the comic to balance what I pointed out or even havind a different pov on those tike a normal conversation but you're not even doing that... you're just repeating stop readind and commenting over and over using different words... you're honestly worse than me so stop being a pot if you want to call the kettle black...
I won't deny that I missed this comment as such I haven't read your valid points. I apologize for that.
However I still disagree with majority of it.
Let's start with him being talented. I highly recommend that you re-read the 1st chapter. He admits himself that he gave up because he didn't think he was as talented as others. BUT let's say you are right and he was indeed talented but gave himself up. He now might have knowledge and the talent... but he still doesn't have the experience. His body needs to be trained all over. His vocal chords, his lungs and even his hands! Being talented and knowledgeable about painting doesn't mean you'll be able to create a masterpiece as soon as you hold the brush. You get it? Is this lack of him training himself and putting effort into being able to do those things that irks me. Like imagine a normal person that only run in hs suddenly being able to run a marathon without prepping their body first. It feels incongruent and hence I wish it was shown... he practicing the gitar, piano and singing until he got to profesional level.
Yeah he lived uear as manager... and regrets it. I do get he acting on manager's instincts sometimes. He did do that to get where he is, including discussing his contract with the company and all. I have no problems with that. But it's a different story when he keep focusing his energy and time into promoting someone else's career instead. He keeps paying too much attention to that girls and involving himself too much. He is more invested in that than his own music and career, he reasons he was sent back.
Lastly, the immortals only seem to be giving him moral support... and while that is important it would be better if they were shown as reasons he is able to do things he wasn't before... like Freddie's suggestion to help him that one time... or passing down/teaching their skills for example... now they are just bystanders that give some good advice at times.
Who wouldn't want to help in his place? I agree with him helping them, he helped his current manager too by signing with him right... but the way he helped her was wacky to say the least.
I haven't read ch 30 yet and later I respond about your other comment. rl is calling me...
Like I said before fiction doesn’t follow logic most of the time so that's pretty much why he isn't seen practicing or working on his skills like other manga similar to this. Plus the story hasn't even really had time to go into what the immortals are capable of and how they can affect him. It’s only on ch 30
If I’m being honestly it feels like the author doesn't pay much attention to adding key information it feels more like a free-form story rather than having an actual plot. Regarding that, I believe the author is a beginner so the story is not gonna have much backbone.
Overall it is still good but it does need background information and more of a stable plotline so readers don't give up.
I think the reason you can't get into is that you're used to more experienced authors and not much on “low-quality” or low experienced authors. It's really just a mindset because your expecting this story to be like once again idol or debut or die.
Try reading The Genius Actor’s Aura, My Second Life as an Idol, Saving the Doomed Idols With My Touch, Top Star’s Talent Library, Superstar From Age 0, This Life Starts as a Child Actor, A Tidal Wave of Glory, I Became the Youngest Top Idol, In This Life, the Greatest Star in the Universe those would be more your type ._.
Yep I read all of them. Maybe that's why I had high expectations for this one too. I get fiction not following rl logic, but when is a mix of reality and fantasy I think I expected at least some reasoning for the changes in him, like systems or supernatural beings teaching or lending mc their power...
Maybe it's like you said and author is kinda inexperienced. Honestly the 1st chapter gave very stong guidelines on why he was sent back and what he should do... don't give up on music again and work hard to make his music known (and not explicit bu mecome a immortal like them). So not seeing him working hard for it and kinda doing side quests instead of focusing on his career was a bit of a turn off.
I don't think there'll be a big of a change on this enough to change my opinion... I feel he'll keep "getting lucky" and "helping others" and somehow his success will come from that... not something I'll like tbh... the 30ch of grace were given and unfortunately it's meh for me. I feel it's not bad bad but could be better so I'll drop.
If you'll keep reading please let me know if at some point it starts to feel that he's working hard and taking his career seriously or if we get something more from the immortals besides normal advice... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Wait wait wait wait WAIT!
SO... If I got this right... that evil god... was planin to have Diego, his son, MARRY Camilla, his daughter???? And have them rule the world and demon world together?? That's... disgusting???? Even if they were created and not birthed and share no blood... that's still disgusting af...
On the other hand now I wonder whats gonna happen to Diego... he doesn't seem that bad... but as the gods can't side with the devils probably so does Arielle... so I wonder what will happen.
Also, I'm kinda glad it's ending. I'm a little tired od those comics that keep going on and on and on and on and never end...
No wonder why diego is siding with arielle. My guy doesn't want to be trap in that incest shit XD
Um so based off spoilers I read....

She's not even his real daughter. He killed his real daughter when her mother entrusted her to him for some unknown reason. Then, he raised this fake one from who knows where. Iirc the mother is actually the prophecy goddess but she doesn't even know her real daughter is dead and she'll look for MC for revenge soon. Btw even the fake doesn't know she's adopted and not the one in the prophecy at all. Idk why he felt the need to switch ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Holy smokes... it's still very bad to me since she at least think they are siblings... xD
So I guess we still have an some chapter stil... I just hope It doesn't drags too much...
