The story makes sense but annoys me nonetheless. It makes sense for a spoiled privileged little shit like ML to grow into this monstrosity and not even understand the gravity of what he does and how he toys around with the "interesting guy" around him that he will eventually declare his supposed love to. But, it's still so annoying because MC does almost everything right. He obeys orders but tries to draw boundaries whenever he can and as soon as he does, it's met with violence.
Yet eventually, as it is usually the case, the author will try to make readers empathize with ML because he grew up in an unloving precarious environment and the only thing hr knew how to do was forcefully possess something. The kind MC will sympathize of course and they will end up together.
How unfortunate.
