I mentioned this in a previous comment but if he was part of a gang/yakuza simply running away would've more than likely lead to their deaths if the guy Minato talked about was that bent on having Nanase. Most gangs (speaking from secondhand experience from friends) beat the ever loving shit out of members for leaving WITH permission. If Minato took off with Nanase it would've lead to Minato being killed and Nanase more than likely being used as a sex slave for the rest of his life.
Not condoning what Minato did, he shouldn't have been fuckin' around with that crowd in the first place, but saying "running away" would've been a better option just doesn't sit right with me lol
