they wrote the kurkans as these animalistic brutes and it makes me uncomfortable. dark skin, huge bodies, AND they go into a heat like state? plus it’s always the pale skinned, sweet, tiny girl, with the giant, dark skin, irrational guy pairing. im clearly not the target audience, and i find it very disrespectful, but to each their own. however, i’m not reading this corny cliche trash.
There's reasons behind why the Kurkans look the way they do. It's not to be disrespectful or anything- they're a race closest to that of beasts, so ofc their bodies would be huge. And imo, the dark skin fits better if they live in the desert, don't see many white people in the desert, do you?
I mean I get if it's not your taste but I don't understand how you consider it disrespectful,, the kurkans are more genuine, civilized and honorable and the white royals are the ones dealing with slavery and calling them barbaric just because they're different. if anything, imo it resembles the truth and history.

That’s fair, if they live in the desert. I dropped it as soon as I found out they went into heat, so I wasn’t aware of that. However, I still find it distasteful LOL. Like I said, i’m tired of the same trope of the giant, dark skin, animalistic ML, and the tiny, pale, kind FL. It’s constant and repulsive. Again, to each their own.

I find it disrespectful because I feel like they’re written in a way that feeds into many negative stereotypes already present about brown people. And SO many of these stories have them.

It’s disrespectful for the orientalist culture that is south Asian inspires and still making them beast like. If they really just wanted to give them tanned skin and make them close to beasts, they didn’t have to add the culture they did
You’re completely right. Stereotypical tanned fictional man that is clearly South Asian with a mix of western arab influences that goes into heat and is considered barbaric. His wife is a dainty paled woman. It’s the most cliche shit a Korean author could come up with. You’re COMPLETELY right

If it's "South Asian inspired", it doesn't mean it's directly derived from South Asian culture... It may have simple parts in it but I'm pretty sure this is more Middle Eastern anyways...

If you're so tired, why did you feel the need to write a whole seminar about it? If you disliked it, you could've easily gone about your day disliking it, not posting your distate about it on a public site where everyone can see it and eventually try and "downplay" your feelings.

Because i’m allowed to share my opinion, the same way everyone is allowed to share theirs. There’s nothing wrong with it at all, but I AM pointing out that people are in fact trying to downplay it. Classic response, “if you don’t like it go somewhere else” Yikes! And I don’t think you know how long a seminar is.

I know what a seminar is. Obviously you didn't write one, it's called a hyperbole, cause that's how long your message felt. And yeah, it's a classic response, because it's a classic complaint.

Well FL is malnourished, of course she didn't grow up right. And there's a reason why her personality is like that. The mother has her in a curse for years. Her real personality is shown in the latest chapters. She can be the badass FL.

Nope, South Asian. The attire the name and the appearance can be directly tied to south Asian culture. In fact I think one of the main outfits he wears is actually so, I can’t remember the exact country. Regardless tanned = barbaric in most Korean stories, the more rowdy one, the more animalistic one, the more sexual one, for women, the more masculine one. There’s nothing to defend about Korean authors. You can like this story and still acknowledge the stereotypical bullshit
