HUGE SPOILERS AND EXPLANATION FOR THE WHOLE MANHWA:

Basically, when they were children they were both abused in their own ways (abandoned orphan, shitty parents, etc). Yeonwoo’s parents had a “black room” that was like a mirror portal to an alternate universe where your deepest and sinister desires could come true, at the cost of (literally) destroying others, to get to the top. They get trapped in there bc Yeonwoo’s parents are assholes and like torturing their scared kid and they both plead for it to be just the two of them forever, which causes the hands to go out and kill his parents. The mirrors then explain that they’re the manifestation of human malice, and they were strong (mentally I guess?) enough and had the capability to be able to control and become one with their mirror selves, which would give them whatever they wanted through any means necessary.

Taejun forgets all of that, but Yeonwoo doesn’t. Yeonwoo has basically been trying his best to reach out in any means possible (the book, the random murders) to get Taejun back, and gets upset that when they do meet again Taejun doesn’t remember anything at all. Taejun’s mirror self has also been calling out to him, hence the creepy reflections he always sees. After they meet and some shit goes down, Yeonwoo tries to get Taejun back to how he was, and is egged on by his shitty friends BUT the one person that keeps him “normal” is his foster father.

Taejun almost goes to Yeonwoo’s side but they have a fight when Yeonwoo admits that he wants the old Taejun and not who he is now (even though by then they were already sleeping together and almost like a couple). He goes to live with his foster father again but! Turns out he’s also a piece of shit!! He sees Taejun as a burden and a charity case and he (rightfully tbh) thinks Yeonwoo is terrifying and insane. And he also was having an affair with Yeonwoo’s aunt? Not too important just more scummy details lol. Taejun, during this reveal, realizes he misses Yeonwoo even though he was a total asshole to him lmao but also because he lowkey opens his eyes that everyone’s got their own personal agenda, even the person he looked up to.

SO Yeonwoo probably realizes he has Taejun within his grasp still and sets up a pretty little birthday party for Taejun and his “friends” and has a lovely massacre as they ahem… make up :D Taejun realizes that no matter what, Yeonwoo is always there for him, no special tricks or motives, because they’re “one”. They encountered the mirrored selves together, they used that power together as kids, and in the end, they became one with their mirrored selves, with each other, forever. All they care about are each other, and even the giant puddles of blood in Yeonwoo’s house don’t bother them because with each other and with their mirrored selves they have enough power to do anything they want and that’s all they ever need. (That’s also why Taejun’s face is EXTRA creepy at the end, by then he’s fully accepted his mirrored self and all of his malice.)

ANYWAY if you’ve read all of this congrats lmao I honestly really love the ending, despite what everyone else feels, since the message of the story is like a twisted version of morals. A metaphor gone wrong, you could say. Their calmness at the end was super chilling because it truly meant they felt like nothing in the world could ever touch them and it was so powerful lol okay bye
