I would like to clarify for everyone on this comment: Curtis has made mention to her not to spoil them too much ever since they were born. He also tells her exactly how inheritance memory works. And when he first hears about his son showing up, he specifically tells bai to stay away. Curtis has even mentioned that they might come back to find her once they had grown and found mates of their own, and he didn't seem to have a problem with this. Now she doesn't listen to literally any of this, so had he killed his son, he would have been pushed into it and it would have been her fault for putting them all into that situation to begin with, because he told her exactly what their species needed.
Now, we can't know everything for certain, but it's clear Curtis is able to separate what are his memories versus what are his inherited memories because he's able to reference and speak about them as if they are separate from himself. He knows what's him and what was his father. If we look at this fact, this shows that not all snakes go freaking nuts, merge/confuse memores, try to become their father and mate with their mom. I think that because the son was still young and probably had more Curtis memories than he had of his own, plus bai right there in the present making things that more confusing, it messed with his psyche and his development. Had she listened to curtis, he might have come around later after growing into himself and handled it better.
I get that she's human and was just doing what felt right for her and what she thought she should, but his father clearly knew what needed to be done and this world isn't a human one. She's at fault for what happened with that whole mess. She fucked the kid, and not in the way he wanted. I just hope that after he ran off, maybe he can get his head sorted and develop his own identity.
I don't know but I think that as the story progress Qingqing grew more selfish day by day. Well yeah I know that a mother will be longing for her child, but even after all the warning Curtis gave her, she still didn't listened and did what she wants....
