I mean we all want Dan to leave but did y'all forget how much money he owes JK?
Plus he gives him a real good salary and he currently really needs the money.
Sure he owes him a lot cause tbh JK did help in many ways and Dan is such a lovely person that he is loyal to someone who helped him sm but I'm sure money is also the bigger issue here. Plus Dan was blackballed from the industry because of that creepy senior doc he rejected long ago so I'm sure he's worried about finding another job and especially finding one that doesn't involve pervs coming at him and pays well enough.
So Idk I feel like there's a sense of financial security and somewhat safety that Dan is worried about losing here too PLUS his feelings for/ crush on JK of course.
I can kinda understand where Dan's character is coming from, though he's being mistreated and abused in some ways he feels protected in many other ways and he prolly feels less alone cause for once someone is there to support him and sometimes stand up for him.
Don't get me wrong I think JK has a whole lot of character dev to do and sucks so bad in so many ways. But we need to understand where Dan is coming from. He's kind, sure. But he's far from dumb imo and his feelings are valid. He's just confused by JK's actions plus he sees him all the time and he's spending his days with him and being intimate with him (+he's handsome) so yeah.no wonder he'd have these conflicting feelings.
It's unfortunate that they're not warming up to each other in the same way or same rate.
We'll have to wait and see.
Lmao this is giving discussion board post energy, but I completely agree with you. Dan has a lot going on in his life and even if it isn't nurturing, he's getting something from being with Joo. I have a feeling nana is going to kick the bucket soon too, which will leave him no one but JK. He just can't catch a break, poor guy
I read the fan translated novel and went really far into the story and couldn't finish it. It was so crazy.
During their first time, I believe he actually broke the guy's wrist in the novel and tho the manhwa makes him look wayyyy less terrible, it was so hard reading through their explicit scenes.
He abuses him over and over and R's him over and over, he even tears him at one point. Like there'll be hella blood.
This ML only gets worse and more obsessive and dangerous.
And the MC is generally attacked by crazy fans whenever he's not being assaulted by his partner.
Anyway, the art here iw beautiful but the ML does NOT get much better. I think becomes a little less violent cause he fears the MC leaving him or dying (basically doesn't want his fave pet gone). Other than that MC makes it clear that he hates sleeping with him EVERY SINGLE TIME, he's in pain and says no all the time. He even says he hates him and is staying cause he's scared of him. It just turns into full on Stockholm syndrom but with him being fully aware that this is dick and being too scared of leaving cause everybody he knows may end up getting killed. (Btw in the novel, I read he actually deca apitated and killed either one of two of the guys who he framed for attacking the actor that was bothering Inseob and I think two of those guys were brothers or sum)
Anyway, ML is a literal assasin. He spirals downhill as the story progresses and mind you we have no logical explanation for Inseob's stalking and obsession for the ML. There's no valid excuse for why he tried to "avenge" his mentally ill best friend. Like, to be fair, I don't see why any of that is ML's fault. They're both mentally not there but Inseob is waaaaay less dangerous than the ML. That guy is UNHINGED. Inseob took on way more than he could handle.
Yes, I think your description of it is totally on point.
I'd say just enjoy the art and stick around for the Rollercoaster, just don't ever expect this to be healthy or to get that much better. It can be somewhat realistic and tbh the manhwa is easier to digest than the novel (ps: Also hated how many times the author compares Inseop with children, I'm telling you, this story is hella creepy)
Idk if it really is "toned down", Philip assaults and kills people and R's and confines his love interest, they pretty much go toe to toe together lol. Philip is also a diagnosed ASPD patient and I think he ran away from the facility he was put in in the US? I also remember he committed some sort of crime so he can't return to the US. Man's literally a danger.
Oh no by toned down I mean the vibes of the scenes. Unlike KS, you can literally feel the dangerous and depressing air surrounding bum and sangwoo. So it's like you know what you are expecting to get in every chapter - more misery. This one, on the other hand, has many scenes with sparkly sparkly cutesy cutesy vibes, which gives it a lighter vibe, until the love interest suddenly commits murder. Honestly, that scene gave me whiplash. I wasn't expecting him to go that far.
Yeah, you're absolutely right! That's why I mentioned that the manhwa did a really really good job at adapting the original work into something more digestible. The novel absolutely gives you that feeling of dread everytime they interact (at least the fan translated version I read). If you care to spend some time on it, I suggest you read a few chapters, like from the moment things start getting sexual, it all goes south reaaaal quick.
I feel like the second season came out years later and progressed through time kinda like its characters, how long has it been 5 years? The author/ artist matured in the meantime just like the main character and i loved seeing the visible improvements in both art style and storytelling. Season 2 felt like the making of a compelling argument for why S1 ended the way it did. Tho I kinda still feel like Subin and Hyeonwoo would be more compatible personality wise now that they’ve matured, I am left way less frustrated with Subin ending up with Jun. I liked to see how they tried to make it work in the last few panels but still think that them fighting sm is a sign that they’re not the greatest fit for each other. Even then, the ending still kinda makes sense, Subin chose the bf he currently likes and is used to. Tho I have to say, it feels like he enjoys being with men he has struggle filled relationships with. I think they lack chemistry as a couple but hey so long as the authors wants them to stick together and makes make sense then I’m not totally against it. All in all, this ending was more convincing though not really satisfying. Remarkable storytelling and art style, and gotta love Hyeonwoo for being a messy bih cause he sure ate that up. Ik he’s problematic but God is he more interesting and entertaining than Jun, plus I liked how he matured.
Anyway, great mahwa
All couples fight occasionally, it's not always sunshine and rainbows. What matters is they fought to keep their relationship and are trying everyday to make it work. I think that's what really matters in the end. Relationships aren't easy. It's also a responsibility. Hyeonwoo, who didn't even know what he wanted, didn't have the courage to face his feelings and in the end rlly hurt Subin. Subin deserves someone who picks him first, always. Jun has always picked Subin first.
Of course no relationship goes without any conflict, the problem is when two people fight too much, about the smallest things. That just shows they're not all that compatible. It might even become toxic in some cases.
Sure Jun chose him over and over again, but why? I feel like at the end of the day they both just kinda settled cause they don't completely each other, it's been 5 years and they didn't wanna start all over again with someone new.
I still feel like they lack chemistry and don't believe that too much fighting is healthy. In the case of Hyeowoon, I think it initially was a 'right person, wrong time' type of situation.
Still, lovely story.
That season 1 ending is (⊙…⊙ )
It was so sudden. Hayden better be okay
