Nooo, I'm absolutely sure that they did updated season 2. I did read the novel and I'm where 'an accident' happened causing penelope and the prince to be stuck together. At the banquet, penelope's father allowed her to bring the crossbow, and it ended for her to become the 'hero' and her popularity increases. She has gifted her father something silver, and the gold one ended up in the prince's possession. They really did updated friend! They just unpublished it.
