like I guess this is pretty interesting so far but the lowkey pedo vibes I'm getting from her are just rubbing me the wrong way
dude there's nothing wrong with finding a kid cute, the problem (and the pedo vibes) are coming over her obsession with him. She stalked the child, sent anonymous gifts, and married the ML because of the child. This is all unacceptable behavior and screams pedophile. The fact you're willing to gloss over this is a problem.
ehhhh I have a feeling he's just going to make a bunch of Japanese food and everyone in this world is going to love it.
Which is kind of annoying.
Japanese food isn't for everyone, especially since the flavors are usually pretty mild compared to other cultures. Depending on what you're used to, they can even seem flavorless because of how milk the seasoning is like...
I really hope at least SOMEONE dislikes his food
I somehow share the same sentiment but in my case. It is like what food is this. I can't imagine what is taste like and it makes me wonder if this food is really good or not. In our country our food would be like leon's cooking full of flavors tho I have Japanese food that I like it is not authentic and my mom is not fond of other countries food. It really is depend on every person's preferences.
There's a lot o really good Japanese food! if you ever have the chance, i'd definitely recommend trying some actual Japanese food. Like I'm Japanese so I've been having it since I was a kid and there's a lot of food that foreigners (Americans at least) don't give as much credit, like okonomiyaki.
It's just annoying when mangakas try and have everyone in the new world love their food. It kind of feels like they're just glorifying Japan and there's already way too much of that online. Like it can just feed into this over glorification of Japan that's already happening overseas.
as you said people have preferences, so it doesn't make sense for everyone to love Japanese food. They can still portray the food as good and still have one or two characters that don't like it.
I CANNOT wait for the Emporer's death.
If he ends up getting with the FL and it's one of those "oh but I saw the true goodness in his heart" bs I'm going to hurl.
He killed her parents.
He's unjustly killed multiple people.
One little sad sob story from his past isn't going to change that.
That shit must have sucked, probably a bit traumatizing.
It doesn't excuse his shitty behavior though.
I'm ok with her forgiving him, he becomes a better person, and then they never speak again.
Them getting together though?
aha they better not
I feel like the story is trying to make the audience sympathize with him (the villain) and make us forgive his horrific actions just because awww he made her sweats and has a sob story.
It's kind of gross.
Romanticizing shitty people isn't cute.
Doesn't matter if he's originally a dragon or not. He's been in dragon form for longer than her, he had time to learn human behavior the same way she has. Also, it seemed like dragons and humans have similar relationships and emotions (friends, loneliness, etc) so it really shouldn't be that much of a leap for a dragon to understand that KILLING someone that the FL is close to will cause her to HATE him.
Really, it doesn't make sense
Okay, when I say I'm invested, I mean i'm i n v e s t e d
Endings that would be pretty neat:
- She forgives him. He stays as the Emperor but is better and does better. She leaves along with blondie or footman guy and they go somewhere else to live.
- FL and Blondie/footman guy rule the country and the current emperor is either banished or killed (forgiving him or not forgiving him, both are okay).
- Pink haired maid takes over the country. Emperor is either banished or killed. FL is happy with either Blondie or childhood friend footman guy. They decide to either stay in the country and become nobles, travel, or live in a small remote town.
- etc.
Not okay endings:
- The Emperor and FL end up together.
I'm sorry but most of the things you've said are so wrong.
First off with the whole "He should know human emotions." Uhm, He literally lived in a cave under ground and rarely ever made contact with humans. After he met the person who betrayed him, He was stuck in a cave for an incredibly long time after he lost all scales and teeth. He literally wouldn't have the slightest clue about human emotions or anything like that because he spent a lot of time hidden away. It clearly shows so many times he has such a hard time understanding human emotions and relating yo them. And he killed all those people because he had to in order to keep the queens seat open for FL. It wasn't like he just killed them all for absolutely no reason. Sure, The reasons aren't the best but it's how it is.
You also must have absolutely no idea how trauma works either because when you're traumatized, You usually wouldn't do normal things or act normal. It isn't, "Oh I was traumatized but I'm okay now!" Like you're gonna act shitty, Mad, Scared all of that. He's just acting like what he is, A DRAGON WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND HUMAN EMOTIONS, AND A TRAUMATIZED PERSON.
dude
trauma fucking sucks
but once it starts affecting other people's lives and making their lives worse, it becomes your responsibility to do something about it.
I'm not talking about stuff like having different social cues, triggers, not leaving the house, or not acting "normal" by societal standards.
I'm talking about stuff like making pedophilic comments (much on the same level as shane dawson) or murdering people.
Your trauma doesn't excuse your actions of creating more trauma for others.
People can be more understanding, yes, but it does not excuse your actions.
Also, the betrayal aspect: He felt emotions. He longed to be friends with that human and then the human stopped showing up. He was hurt. He felt the loss of someone he considered a friend.
Yes, it was a toxic friendship between the two but he still felt close to that human. It also appeared to be that he was sad about the human's death. Yes, he felt betrayed by human greed, but he did feel these emotions nonetheless.
As a dragon, it makes sense for him to have some difficulty connecting to human beings. The betrayal playing a part in this.
However, these emotions should be able to be applied to the FL and how she was with her family.
Also, he was in human form for longer than her. AKA, he would have been able to observe human behavior for a longer period of time than her. He stated so himself.
He may have come across a lot of shitty people during his life as a human, but you cannot look me in the eye and say that it was impossible for him to come across a happy/healthy family, relationship, friendship, etc, where he could have observed their behavior as well.
Also, what about the families of those he killed? He had the opportunity to observe and see how they'd act after hearing the news the deaths. If they could not react properly in front of him. he could have easily sent spies to observe their reactions/mourning. A letter boy or something could have been sent as well since they would have been more likely to burst out with their real emotions in front of a servant rather than the king.
With these observations, he could have easily come across the conclusion that she would at least dislike him and grieve if her parents died. He may not have understood, but if he truly wanted to connect with a human, he would have done his best to connect.
Instead, he treated her like a tool. Her emotions did not matter.
He did not treat her as a living being. If he was really interested in taking her in as queen and wanted to truly be considerate for her, he would have done at least this. Not just killing the queens so that the seat stays "open." The little sweets he made don't make up for it either.
Another question, if he truly was the tyrant king, what need is there to have a Queen? Who would dare threaten the tyrant who killed the entirety of the royal family into having a Queen that the Tyrant did not want? Who would dare pressure him into it? No one. He would have killed them.
So, to me, the 5 deaths of the previous Queens were pointless. The position should have been kept open from the beginning if he was truly following the prophecy since before he became king as he stated.
He is being selfish and therefore does not care what the consequences are for his actions or how they affect people and their day-to-day lives.
His selfishness makes sense, yes. He's been alive for so long and is still experiencing pain. However, it still does not excuse his actions. Because of this, I cannot support him.
Would you marry someone who murdered the people you were closest to in front of your eyes? (doesn't necessarily have to be your parents, there are some shitty parents out there) You'd most likely say no. But what about if the only reason they did it was because they wanted to marry you and you can't have people who don't follow their commands be close you? no? Ok, but what about if they give you a sad sob story about how they grew up, maybe in an abusive home, having to turn to crime in order to make a living? wouldn't you still say no?
This backstory would make a person more understanding of the murderer's situation, but you'd have to ask why there was a need to kill those that were closest to you.
This person is already showing red flags as well. You are only being told that it's because he wants to marry you. This is done without your consent nor understanding.
Yes, accidental deaths happen, perhaps in a robbery or a hit and run, but I'm not talking about accidental deaths in this scenario. That's not what the king did. He made the decisive decision to kill the parents.
People have a tendency to try and forgive villainous characters because of reason a or reason b and state that their actions weren't so bad, but that's not a healthy mindset. It can easily travel into your real day to day life, having you forgive people you really shouldn't because "they're going through a tough spot right now."
I'm not talking about those that are actually going through stuff and they aren't doing so in a toxic manner. I'm talking about those who will start taking advantage of you.
yes, you can sympathize, but you can not excuse their actions if they become toxic and unhealthy for you.
The King is pretty much that. He is the "villain" of this story. He has a sad backstory. It does not excuse his actions.
if anyone's upset about how this ended, check out real account! same author, over 80 chapters so far
