Mother in law is having to deal with the repercussions of not supporting Edith and failing to make sure she has a stable position in the family. Meanwhile father is law is seemingly forgetting that he was the one that made Killian marry Edith for the sake of his glorious plan. And not to forget that blondie is trying to show mother in law how she's perfect as Killian's 2nd wife by harassing Edith in her presence.
I can only accept the stupid plot points and nonsensical developments by pinning them all on the big evil mastermind forcing the characters to act goofy. Without that, these scenes would just be plain ridiculous.
