The prince knew she's not the real daughter of the Duke. He also loved her but he don't have the power to protect her. The imperial family's power was weak. He protected her in the shadows but he can't openly show his affection because he knows she'll be killed. That's also why he reacted that way after she got pregnant. I felt like a lot of things were not addressed or maybe I missed it. But what happened to the immortals? Did they ascend? Why ddnt ryujin ascend with them? How did he live after being pierced like that? What killed guesundo? (Apologies for butchering the name) did they recreate the mirror? So what exactly was imae? Was he human or a demon? Like I have a lot of questions but the story was great
i dont know the answers to the oyher questions but the part were ryujin lived after being pierced was probably because of the fruit were the immortal people said that it grants one wish
And his wish was to remove all Imaes sadness which is like ryujin being pierced also being part of his sadness
