Authors need to know we are sick and tired of this trope. Especially in a lighthearted story such as this one the SA comes out of nowhere. It's just weak writing. "If you loved me you wouldn't hurt me" victim mentality while literally someone till they bleed is next level character assassination.
I am a firm believer that opposite genders CAN be just friends. However, this story I think they will end up together. There was the focus on him pondering about "cute" and the two of them being so in sync. I think things will develop naturally between them!
