Dont read this I read until the last chapter and it was just not it. It didn’t feel right so you’re just gonna waste your time reading this. The female lead was too much for me.

cant he just go to a translator app on the iPad

    niv June 16, 2021 12:48 am

And do what, translate from Korean to Russian? He's avoiding using Korean because the original body doesn't know Korean.

    Alex June 16, 2021 1:43 am

that would be really sus since a sudden knowledge in music can be explained with an accident, it's happened before in history, a sudden knowledge in a language isn't. That'll place the mc in a bad situtation

Well, it happened too that someone could suddenly talk a new language after an accident.

There's actually something called FAS. Which means Foreign Accent Syndrom. People who have had a traumatic brain injury suddenly wake up speaking with a different accent. There have also been people who have woken up speaking a foreign language fluently (although before their injury they did know a littlrbit of the language, they weren't fluent). Scientists don't know how they can suddenly speak fluently, but they believe it might be something similar to FAS. Either way, i doubt anyone would actually believe a random soul took over someone else's body so I'm sure he'd be able to get away with speaking Korean and everyone would just think of it as a new scientific happening

If the MC is going to live in this Russian girl's body, the most logical and beneficial way to go about it is to learn Russian from scratch. The fact that he's pretending to have lost his memories of Russian is perfectly fine, it's also a lot easier for most readers to understand than something like FAS.

Eh, that wasn't my point at all lol. My point is, you can do what the original commenter said and use an IPad as a translation method: Korean to Russian, because there is a logical explanation for why a person would suddenly know a different language than the one they normally used. Like that, he would be able to communicate with them. Never said he shouldn't still learn Russian. You can do both. Besides, it would probably be easier to learn Russian too if he can translate from Korean to Russian (he'd know what certain Russian words mean and have they're pronounced because he'd have translated it from Korean).
I also never knew about FAS, i just looked it up, but eh you're acting like the author couldn't inform us about it by having like a doctor explain FAS in the webtoon.
? Happens all the time. I mean God forbid a story actually educates someone lol

Not sure why you're getting defensive when I wasn't rebuking any of your points, but yes, a story can actually educate someone. However, using FAS would require the MC himself to know what it is first. His soul has just entered a different body, which isn't scientific at all, so I doubt he'd be thinking "Oh, I wonder if there are any rare conditions in this world that would explain me knowing a different language." His thoughts are likely stuck in, "My SOUL just entered another body. I can't even believe it myself, so why would anyone else?"

Not to mention FAS isn't about suddenly knowing a new language, it's an ACCENT. If he had FAS, he would still be speaking fluent Russian, but with an accent that makes it sound Korean.

Eh, now you're acting like the MC isn't the author's design? And what I mean by that is: If the author wanted the MC to know about FAS, we'd have a MC who knows about FAS. There are an infinite ways an author could have written a character equipped with that knowledge or something similar to that knowledge. Since s/he IS the author's design and the author does have the means to inform themselves about FAS, the author could have logically equipped the MC with that information. The author didn't, no shade to the author, like i am not saying it was wrong to go down this road. It's just a general observation.

Which brings us back to the point at hand: there is a logical way the MC could have still spoken Korean and used a translation app while also learning Russian. It's honestly beside my point if he should've gone down that route or even if it would fit the story, because the question at hand is if the MC could have communicated in Korean and translated to Russian. A purely general question that I gave a general answer to: which is yes, he could have and it would have made sense. That's it.

You feel that i am defensive, it isn't really my intent. I don't even think i originally replied to you actually, because my whole intent was to continue on the information that it would've technically made sense if the MC had spoken Korean and translated to Russian All i did was showcase that there was a logical explanation

Conversely, you could argue that people don't generaly know about FAS and the author may have wanted to write a character with general medical knowledge. However, at the same time, one could also argue that a character who just woke up in a foreign place would use whatever communication method they have at their dispposal, which for the MC could have been an IPad (music is all nice and emotional, but it's not the same as being able to use actual verbal words), because not being able to communicate at all with people in a foreign land and among foreign people is terrifying. The MC might not know about FAS and he doesn't have to, he could have communicated in Korean out of habit or desire to communicate while an actually doctor could put an actually name to his strange behavior

I'm pretty sure i also explained that in my first comment lol... if you just scroll up and read before replying, you'd also know i said that there are people who woke up speaking a different language and scientists think it's a different version of FAS, though they don't know for sure. You'd also understand that i made it clear that if he woke up speaking Korean, doctors would just say it as a different scientific happening. Since you were referencing FAS in all your replies, i shortened it for you
