Could anyone please explain to me the hierarchy within the yakuza especially with regards to Yashiro, Ryuuzaki and Hirata? I am really confused to who is the superior and who is the subordinate among them.

So in the story, Doushinkai in is the main yakuza group that has factions. Yashiro is the head of one of the factions Shinsekai. So he is pretty high up there. Ryuzaki is in a different faction and Hirata is some rank in the Doushinkai group I believe but i'm not too sure...

I believe ch. 3 also tells the names of yakuza ranking names.

Hirata is a head of another faction like Yashiro called Matsubara. Ryuzaki in the same faction as Hirata but is a lower rank and under him.

Yeah check the comment below for the more accurate (I believe) description. (I'm gonna use US terms if that makes it easier). Misumi is vice president of the main group. Hirata is president of the sub-group Shinsekai and Yashiro is its vice president. Ryuuzaki is president of a different sub-group. Misumi is most likely going to become next leader of the main group and he wants Yashiro as his vice which pisses Hirata off, hence all the plotting.

er, *comment above. I don't know how the commenting works. Check @AnonymousOne 's comment
