I agree with that thought. But I think he was actually trying to toughen him up and be less flaky. When you go to train in the army, are they gonna baby you and hand you everything? Of course not. They degrade you and strip you of all your confidence. And what you have left is to build up your own confidence up and be more resolute in your own abilities. That's basically all Letio had as any kind of learning. So to him, that's probably what helped him, so he wants Celestine to have more confidence in his own abilities.
