The slur btw is the r word. Mental retardation is a disorder and many consider the use of the word offense and a slur. There’s some sad stories behind it concerning those with the disorder but I don’t wanna reiterate it. You can look it up if you want it’s mostly with bullying and stuff. I know it’s not a commonly known slur and I’ve seen many manga include it especially Chinese manhua. Which is to be expected because of all the mental health stigmas I’ve seen. But I don’t know enough about Chinese culture to make that a statement though.

I appreciated the author's note a lot because we were able to gain insight into the author's struggle whilst crafting the characters (๑•ㅂ•)و✧ while i personally am still dissatisfied with aspects of the characters, i love that the author took time to think about the ways female characters are portrayed in the media! i find that most authors have a lot of trouble writing them or just end up projecting and depicting really bad tropes/ideas with their characters :/
