This is just my tired brain at 6am speaking but like
was it ever said what would happen after Yvonne gets accepted into the family. Penelopes been working so hard to stay alive but if she ran away with Eclis wouldn’t that be like speedrunning that last 1%. Plus she can leave her dysfunctional family behind, i guess the only sad thing being the prince left behind as well, but at that point of the story she’s convinced he wouldn’t be able to be with her as well, so idk
i like yanderes and that entire range of character trope so maybe im biased but it feels counterintuitive to her grand goal of ‘I gotta get em to 100% and most importantly stay alive!’ Feel free to correct me if they did mention like why she HAS to see to the end of 100% inside this country/place and can’t just run away. I am very sleep-deprived and honestly can’t be bothered to go check lmao so im leaving this message here

I think the main issue at least for me would be is the breach of trust. She is in a place where she can't rely on anyone, so trust to her that's been built up is important. Now when u find out your only ray of hope betrayed you and is trying to use you for their own reasons is just not good. Also he crossed her like this selfishly, what will he do in the future, you know? Like she wants to be free and live happy without worries of being killed. (Yandere route is normally not the way for that )
I normally love yandere but I have a type within it as well cuz for some reason I'm just not a big fan of him the past few chapters. Like he is different from before. She also doesn't actually love him is another issue. She's been using him this whole time.
The prince could probably help her to get out alive while providing her freedom and still have a place to belong.

it would speedrun the 1% left for Eclis but the color of the love meter is important and tells what kind of love the LI has for the FL, so i think it wouldn't be a TRUE END since the kind of love Eclis has for Penelope isn't real love but obsession (yeap, yandere route, always have one), so I guess that wouldn't count for the game

Naruhodo naruhodo, tbh i never thought much about the trust part because she was so desperate to live—not that i dont know she has trust issues, girlie makes that so clear jdkdjsk
And see i would believe the ’life without worry’ thing… if she hadn’t just poured all her resources into her slave/servant-knight being the 100%. Cause. That was wrong from the get-go from a normal moral perspective lmao. Idr if she managed to see the end of Eclis’s route in her PL, but surely with some common sense you’d start to wonder what the slave can even do. Like realistically there’s only so much a knight can protect you with a hierarchy system in place. What if it gets so bad that running away was the only option? wouldn’t that just be running away like now??
Sorry if i sound pretty stupid(it’s once again like 5am because nighttime is the only time allotted for reading)(it’s not an ideal sleep schedule) or defensive of Eclis, i just don’t get to talk about the manhwas i read all that often and discussions like this tickles my brain
but ty for the replies! i’ve been wondering for quite a while why she was so adamant on going a certain way so it’s nice to just, jumble thoughts around and write it down ^^

Yeah you're totally right too. Honestly I'm guessing in her mindset it somehow all of this made sense. Ik when I was cornered up my thoughts were all jumbled so maybe the author tried to go for something similar? Like not make the typical perfect fl and wanted them to have flaws? Idk haha..
It totally tickles my brain too haha- I like discussions like these but I keep my circle small and no one reads these. I enjoy these kind of things. Ah and it's not stupid at all! I totally see your point and even if I didn't or someone else that doesn't mean it's stupid. Everyone's input is valuable.

I totally see your point too! And I love these discussions as well, since none of my friends read the same stuff I do and my bf is more of a shounen guy.
This manhwa is one of my favorites and it's nice to talk about it! So, let's go back to the main topic xD
my theory is that Eclis was the easy one, maybe?
from Penelope's pov, Derrick and Reynold hated her and wanted her gone (also, cringe to hit up your brothers even if they're not your blood). Kallisto is the crazy bloodthirsty prince and the most likely to kill her at first glance. Vince brings Yvonne back in the original story and it's very hard to gain his trust and meet him. so even if eclis is an slave/knight, he would be the most accessible for her to gain the "love points"
and about running away, I think she was hold back by her feelings for Kallisto (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Hehe same here!
Eclis for sure was easier. Also like.. your brother (even if not related but grown up together since childhood) developing feelings for you by getting 100% would be weird. And yeah I'm pretty sure in her eyes everyone was crazy and Eclis seemed the best n easiest option. Like- the boy straight up just needs someone to show affection and care for him like an abandoned. Also she clearly feared his power (I think?). He may just be a slave but can easily kill you. I feel like in strenght he is the 2nd scariest option after Kallisto.
Honestly I have to read again from the beginning cuz it's been awhile (probably will soon haha, i have a memory of the gold fish sometimes). But I feel like your point is the most accurate!
Also for running away- I also think she didn't think that's an option because this is basically an otome game set up. To her everything is dead end uless she gets a happy ending with one of them (thats what normally happens in otome games). So she focused on just getting a happy ending with one to survive. Also she kinda fell for good ol' Kallisto hehe~

I’m glad that my replies are making sense, writing these at like the asscracks of dawn aren’t really guarantees for good word choices hdkdjsks ( ̄∇ ̄")
I really like the idea of her being unable to think straight now that you mention it. What with the immense pressure she felt with a very real, probably painful death looming, she makes decisions that somehow both align with the plotline but also muddles up character relationships and creates tension. I never thought of it that way! It really does show a realism in character in a more internal way, and i guess my mind just slipped up on those nuances because it’s been so long since i read the beginning, thus the consistency of the story just.. got lost on me lol
also also! i forgot to consider the difficulty levels!! I do agree that going for the brothers is yikes, and that Vince is pretty untrustworthy (esp with the whole… island arc that happened), and Callisto being… him. But when the affection levels started to change colour—maybe I have a bit too much trust in her modern self, but surely she knows what colour theory is. I don’t remember what the other characters’ colors were(was the prince orange? Maybe signifying a happy, warm affection. And i know pink was one of them, so maybe that was a purely romantic affection, so on so forth) but black has been universally used as an ominous symbol, a colour that doesn’t have many good meanings behind it. I’m definitely stretching here, but I really just like thinking about how if she noticed a few things here and there, how things might’ve gone differently.
I dont have much to add on anymore regarding how Eclis compares up with the other leads. Nor do i have anything left I urgently want to talk about the story and stuff. But this was really fun!! Tbh im now rooting for her ending up with Callisto if only because it’s the safest and healthiest option at this point, but I will always have a special spot in my heart for Eclis (i was rooting for him so fucking badly at the start you have no clue LMAO) (and look where that ended up ). And i hope you have a nice reread monjih! lord knows ill never be able to reread these series’s with long episodes cause god they take a heck load of time sobs Σ( ̄□ ̄||)

Same! I like that idea too since I've been reading too much of the smart perfect tropes. Like man no way u don't have proper slip ups with no consequences TT
Totally! The pink was her brother too hahaha.
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THE MAGE- He existed too huh I was rooting for Eclis at the start too now though Callisto- I support him but he needs to be less official with her. Last time they spoke was just upsetting- this man making her think he not interested.
It was great too! Enjoy your reads as well~

Just to add to the conversation, I think Penelope is realizing the colors now, I mean it's been a while she played the game (and I think she never got an happy ending in the hard mode!!!)
if you guys want to know what the bubble's colors mean, I can tell you! Idk if it's a spoiler or not so I asked first :)
good reading for you two too!! it was fun to have this chat

same same!! i did read a few spoilers on a forum but i only really looked at the vague plot points (the virtues of having really spotty memory, is that spoilers don’t affect you at all lmfao) (actually spoilers make me look forward to the story more, cause then it’s like “oh shit how are they gonna build up to that?”)
bro how do you land facing him when he pulled the fishing rod from the back
but anyways please dont tell me that was a kiss plsplspslpslskemdkslmzlwnznnamaa combustion
