Why do I feel like the ending is gonna be something like this-
Blond guy got into an accident fell into a coma again. But this time, when he wakes up, the rich dude is there just waiting for him. (Unlike the ex) Rich guy is finally gonna ask him out after waiting for (months/years) (he was about to but then the accident happened.) Then yeah, blondie will agree and then be overwhelmed that someone finally waited for him.
Or they already could be in a relationship when that accident happened- Bet they'll say (after he wakes up) "Welcome back" "I'm back, thank you for waiting" Then they finally move on with life

I think the father is still greifing and blames his son for the mother's death. Since after she gave birth that's when she started getting worst. Which is understandable in that sense but that's why therapy also exist. To work on a way to tend to these issues.
