I understand why so many ppl r mad at ML (he is also annoys me arm) and the other part protecting him cause of the plot that happend with the royal family, and I understand why they r defending the FL.
But what I don't get. U wouldn't like it if he would change his behavior after a few pages or 1 or 2 chapters but u also don't like it when he doesn't make a 180° turn in a blink of an eye... at least give him a chance to change?
That is true, some people want to see this gradual change opposed to a complete 180. However, the author made the Ml an asshole and people tend to dislike and complain about asshole characters. Like you can still comment on how terrible a character is while waiting for their character to develop. Example being Tsukasa from Boys Over Flower. He was an asshole, and I hated him until he changed. But also, I think many people just don't like to see an asshole abuse the MC since we know the truth and to us, he's being a total idiot. But at the end of the day, people gonna love/hate characters and talk about it.
Sure he is one of a kind and with a big violent temper problem. He should look after his blood pressure with this behavior.
And ofc everyone has his own opinion. Just don't get when ppl r upset, when they don't see a 180 degree change and if they do, they dislike the sudden change cause it's to much of a drastically change.
But yes, it keeps ppl talking and discussing. Guess that's not bad either.
l understand what you're saying, but I also get why people are upset. Like it would be unrealistic for a change to happen suddenly. However, if you see someone being an asshole you're gonna garner some sort of negative impression of the character. Those perceptions changes when the character changes. I don't think it's people being mad at the character development but just at the character characterization. Like I understand he will change at some point, but it doesn't make it less insufferable to see him act like an ass. An example being if you had to take some terrible medicine and afterwards you get to have something good to eat. Like yeah you're gonna get something delicious, but it doesn't change that the medicine is gross. That's how I see it anyway.
Also, some people just don't believe in redemption for character like these. A lot of stories have the MC find a better husband, so people might just be accustomed to that.

When ppl say he is what he is and no matter he changes or not I just wish to see FL ending with someone who truly treasures her from the start. That's something diffrent. Or when they say ons an assh*le always one. Doesn't matter the change there is always going to be a bitter taste. And maybe there is to some kind, cause to some point u just can't forget or ignore what was in the past. But always waiting for prince charming in the story.... I mean this is not Disney. It's clearly marked as a Drama, well OK maybe it has more of a tragic background. But for me Drama don't count only perfect ppl who r just fooling around. Wouldn't he be an an assh*le wouldn't all the "taking my own life" part not make much sense or even happen. Then even when the family neglect her, her husband got at least her back. But that's what the story is based on.
Its easy to understand that premise as well, but again you're gonna dislike who you dislike. Drama, action, horror, thriller, or whatever the genre is there are going to be characters that particularly get under your skin whether they get a redemption arc or are allowed character development. I can understand that there are a wide arrange of characters on the spectrum when it comes to Male Leads and it would be boring to just follow the basic formula. However, if you want to make asshole characters that are also likeable you have to give them something relatable, redeemable, or sympathetic traits which, imo, this Ml is only displaying negative qualities that doesn't really make me, the reader, like him. Like we are told he is smart and intelligent but I have yet to see him behave as such. All I see him do is behave irrationally and violently towards what we, the reader, know to be an innocent person in all this. Its not his fault for not initially knowing that she wasn't involved, but i would think after a year he would do some snooping of the royal family and have this further investigated instead of taking this lying down.
Regardless of that, he doesn't appear to have her back at all. He neglects her, rarely hold an extended conversations with her that doesn't end up with him storming off, and refuses to partake in a dance which he knows is vitally important in maintaining a woman's social status. Even then, his wife is in a panic state and is begging him to go with her which he still refuses to do. So based on that and all i've read so far, there is little for me to latch onto that makes me think "I have hope for this guy". He also is unaware of the unfair treatment she has been receiving within his own house, which only shows his lack of interest in her life. Now people can sit here and say "Well, he's an asshole, but Ik he will eventually be redeemed so it's not that bad." But that's not how we operate. People see neglect and abuse negatively, and can only base their impressions on what they read. Even if we understand that he will eventually changes that doesn't make what we are currently witnessing any more bearable.
I hated Bakugo from my hero, who is the epitome of an asshole character, but he was hardworking which is a redeemable trait despite him being a braggart and narcissistic. Later on, my view change as I saw the reasons behind his behavior. I still don't like his personality, but I like his characterization. People are going to complain about things they don't like, and its right of them to do so. Again, people live in the present, and so they comment on what they see. If he changes into a better person I'm sure many people will be happy and maybe even commend him for it since we finally get to see him do something positive. But until then people are going to be mad at witnessing this woman's struggle and especially how he plays a role in it.
I agree with you. Like I said that was never my point that he isn't or you can't hate him because the story only started or it is to early to have an opinion on him.
My point was that opinions are formed almost immediately. It only takes 7 seconds for someone to make a first impression, and once that impression is made its kinda hard to change it. I will agree in saying you should hold off judgement on the quality of the story, but even that would be hypocritical to the point im making. All in all, it doesn't take much for you to form an opinion on something, and the reasons I have are valid enough for people to quickly have a negative opinion of him. I feel as if you are saying that we should give him a chance to change, which felt to me as if you were saying that people are judging him too quickly and not allowing him to develop which seems a little contrary to you saying is fine to dislike him. Him now and giving him a chance to change are separate from each other, and even when he does change there's no guarantee people would be anymore accepting of him. Yes, people would be upset were he to change in 2pgsbecause is a very unrealistic depiction of these types of characters, especially when they've been doing it for so long. I don't think people aren't giving him a chance to change more so that thry don't like his characterization and , again, may or may not change forbidding on his development later on. I'm not diffrent there in a lot of cases even when I try to observe and watch for a while, i can't stay always objektive over a Charakter or situation. What I meant was that criticize him because he didn't made a 180 degree turn and became the next Saint in the chapter he woke up as his wife and in another story where ML might change his assh*le behavior after 2 pages to the FL the same readers might say that's to fast of a drastic change, to explain it over dramatic.
