I've known bullies. Bullies may have issues and be angry or insecure, but its a whole different thing to assault somebody. Reread the whole manga. Daiki has only thought of himself and never actually even listens to Shouta. He's a jerk and a loser and you're right, a bully. So? Thats an excuse? He can treat Shouta like shit because he's known to be a bully and thats fine? He doesn't deserve to be anywhere near Shouta. Shouta has been a good friend all this time but Daiki has only ever had selfish thoughts.

and that's what makes him fresh, i mean looking through hayasen's characters he's different. sure, in a bad sense. but why not have portrayals of different characters? personally i thought it's more fun and actually a surprise, especially coming from hayasen's work. People can change, drastically, coming from my own experience. just wanna say, give daiki a chance, he might make amends for his wrong in future chapters.

Its bad because it perpetuates the rampant tropes in BL genres that normalize abuse and it reflects the fucked up thinking perpetuated by Japanese men. Men there ACTUALLY talk like that. Have you read any of the #metoo stories being translated from Japan? It is a very conservative country that doesn't care about the rights of lgbt people or women and perpetuates BS like we see here. If the author had a good reason, like she was going to acknowledge him being a shit head as part of her story and then bring a new narrative to the table, like actual acknowledgment of this behavior as toxic and disgusting, and have her story feature REAL repercussions for these actions, then it would be good and interesting. But it doesn't seem like thats going to happen. Its a tired old boring and toxic trope. Writing the same old shit for the same old genre isn't refreshing or new, no matter who is writing it.

Also, who do you think LOOOOVES it when we write stories about excusing mens shitty behavior and showing that we can change them by being patient and loving at the expense of our values, bodies, and emotions? Thats right, men. So they can continue to get away with the same bullshit and never be pushed to grow or be held at higher standards. People that hurt us are not ENTITLED to us. We do not have to "save" anybody and teaching people via media that they can save people and can do so by hurting and sacrificing themselves and their comfort and health is irresponsible.

That’s... not at all what I said, nor did it have anything to do with what I said. I clearly didn’t express whether I personally felt what he did was okay or not. I was simply explaining that what he did and how he acted wasn’t at all unexpected or surprising, and it’s not understandable to me as to why someone would expect him to have a sudden complete change of character.

It does though. I get what you're saying, but I think people who are aggressive physically/fighting/violent and people who are aggressive sexually, are not necessarily interchangeable. Its one thing to be a selfish douchebag that starts fights and a whole other to be one that also sexually assaults people. I think the outrage is not that they didn't already know he was a selfish jerk with an aggressive history, but that he was the type to sexually assault somebody. My response was basically that. He didn't just get violent, he was sexually aggressive and not all aggressive people are like that. I think people are annoyed because they expected him to still be above crossing that line. I understand what you're saying, I just meant to argue that I don't think that people are angry because they lack an understanding of his character.

uh, okay, first of all, calm down. i want to start a discussion about the character, asking well, you, to let's just see how the progress work first before pulling assumption, it's not healthy. there's really no need for you, preaching directly at me (by replying my comments with such vigor), i'm not oblivious to how the world works. let's just contain it within the characters, we all know how fucked up the world is and the people in it, it's not a secret.
