I like that they just decided to introduce this character randomly in the middle of a kidnapping and major internal conspiracy plot. I won't even bat an eye at the randomness.
Honestly I find even Sophie the Duchess of Winterwald's obsession with the late Princess Vanessa kinda creepy.

Duke who was a simp for Sophie to the point that he doesn't really even care much about the happiness of his own child with Sophie.
Sophie who was loyal, devoted to Princess Vanessa, sure that's fine but.... to have favoured Jonas and not be equal with her affection with both Jonas and Ruediger is weird.
You all can call Vanessa selfish for using Sophie as a bargaining chip but girl was desperate to escape! That I can understand.
I think Ruediger got his devotion, sense of duty & loyalty from his mum and the Simping from his dad ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

I do wonder if he would have had a daughter with the duchess that looked like her if he would have ignored her as much. The duchess most probably would have as she wouldn’t have looked like the princess but maybe not the duke.
