Huge, major rant incoming XD
Lets cut to the chase, that was disappointing.
And the reason it was so disappointing is because it had so much potential too.
The beginning set this up to be some kind of "what matters isn't the appearance, but the actions you make" kind of story. That you "shouldn't judge based on appearances."
I had hopes that this story would be about MC growing into herself, and realising that "everyone is a main character of their own stories" or that she's "only as strong as she lets herself believe". That strength and kindness doesn't have to correlate with beauty.
Instead? The 'pretty and pure main (but side) character' remained that, and the 'background main character' had no real growth. She disappears main battle, with nothing more gained then fond memories.
Where's my character growth? where's the true side characters having any real substance? Instead of leaving the false main character as the "virgin Mary" esque type, why didn't the author acknowledge more of her flaws? Taking credit for another's work? no matter how hard you try to dress it up, that still sucks.
Not to mention, what about fakey's family? Her friends? To them she's probably missing after mc goes home, but we get no explanation. Not to mention that character is trapped in a foreign world, fight someone else's battle, with only a guy she met and fell in love with after like a week. Nothing. It just seemed like it would actually go somewhere... Not this watered down product.
I guess I can only leave with my regrets that they went nowhere with the "your powers are closer to gods" line, with the small glimpse of political infighting, with the side characters having drives stronger than '???', to the potential romance with MC and master.
But yeah, don't bother wasting your time, or maybe just read some of the beginning, and imagine your own ending. There are much more satisfying novels out there.
Your comment made me realize I never finished reading this manga (it was a while back and not all chapters were updated) After reading what you had to say, I don't think I'll get back into it. It sounds like the most disappointing, unsatisfying endings out there. It's a shame because I remember enjoying this manga so much and waiting to see her growth/development, but you're telling me she doesn't get any?? Yeah, I think I'll save myself the frustration and pass on this :)
Why do I feel like webtoons are just winning when it comes to comics atm? So far I am just LOVING all this content! I look forward to them getting more exposure and hopefully gaining more popularity and animations in the long run (=・ω・=) And you freaking rock Tae min!!!! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
