This was honestly quite terrible, in my opinion. While the actual art/composition was okay, this story was one of the many where the bottom was raped by the top for 'justified' reasons like gender and personal desires. There was no believable character development and the bottom ends up 'loving' his rapist while somehow dismissing what happened in the past. Also. This is not BDSM in any way, shape, or form.
I'm not here to be the sjw for fictional novels, but I find it difficult to see what people liked about this aside from there being a dick in a butt hole.
i agree that rape was justified in this story but its normal in Japanese yaoi. (doesn't mean I agree with it. I hate it but I let it go for the story that happens afterwards).

BDSM is founded on trust and consent between partners. Both parties should have a safe word or method of communicating a safe signal to their partner, so that they can put a stop to an activity in which they no longer want to participate.
While there can be many variations of sub/dom / sadism/masochism and how they play out, partners are still complying with the other's requests because they want to, not because they have no other choice.
The way the character's relationship starts in this story is with rape and coerced sex. There's no discussion of boundaries, safe words, or any important topics integral to a BDSM relationship. Especially since the sub doesn't actually have any choice about consenting to orders.
As a result of this, and several other ways in which the story developed, I really don't feel that it can properly be called BDSM. Yes, there is a 'sub' and 'dom' element, but that's pretty much mislabelling the rapist and the victim in the story.
Again, I'm not trying to be the social justice warrior of fictional worlds, but I this story was just glaringly unpleasant. It's my personal feelings and opinion, but I don't find it enjoyable to read yaoi when either the bottom or top is distressed and doesn't want to have sex with their counterpart yet is still forced to do so (this does not include informed role-plays of this scenario where both partners consented). Even though the sub came to love the dom later in the story, it didn't feel believable to me since there were no major developments that would even begin to suggest why he would actually look favorably upon the dom.
Anyway, that's my bit about this. A lot of people were giving this story really great reviews, so I had wanted to post my opposing opinion about it for some variety.

I don't think you were a SJW. I think your concern and opinion is totally valid, and in fact, I agree with you. I was just wondering about the BDSM part because they did have a safe word later on and it seemed like it was consensual. (however I agree that when they first started it was not BDSM but just pure rape. Like I mentioned before, I've gotten used to the rape culture in Japanese manga so I just roll my eyes and hope to god that this subtle reality of rape culture that they have in Japan isn't true. But fiction is based in reality so...)
