I can’t even wrap my head around the fact someone actually thought this was a good plot line. Firstly, the author does nothing to hide the obvious racism where the villains are yet again middle eastern coded. I mean the literal emblem of the ML’s empire is a copy of arabic calligraphy…..Then we get to the shitty ML who we’re suddenly supposed to feel sorry for??? The FL had her entire empire destroyed and we’re just supposed to brush over that and suddenly shift to romance?? I understand this is fantasy and not everything is going to be realistic but I feel like we can do without glorifying toxic behavior and obvious negative portrayals of actual human beings.
