I understand why people don't like him, and they're arguing that all the shit he did in the past shouldn't just be excused and what not. But its not. She's clearly not excusing it and she's trying to avoid it. The story isn't just waving it all away like it never happened, can't you see that? And he literally isn't the same person as he was before, he is a whole ass different person and he's doing the best he can, and yes he's pushy but ffs it's a romance novel. He is in love with her and kinda a heart breaking story if they never get to be together. I can imagine how much h he panicked and rejected her plea because he knows a blood oath cannot be reversed.
Idk. I'm torn because I love love love Casien and ship them. But I'm also hurting for the prince/king. Even in his past life he never knew what love was and finally he learns what it feels like.
Maybe my only xonplaint with him is that he didn't seem to have much agency in his past life to learn things that weren't taught to him. That he let himself do cruel things without thinking further.
But that past him isn't him.
