The relationship dynamics here is very similar the couple in Long Period. MC1 has been in love with friend MC2 but has kept it to himself despite all the obvious signs MC2 was giving that he loved him back. It does feel a little different in that Minato is and has been super oblivious about his feelings so now we're spending the whole book waiting for Wataru to stop being stubborn and in his own head.
While I was annoyed by the obliviousness in Long Period, I think I'm less annoyed about it here because it only lasted a chapter and didn't string me along for 2 whole fucking books. There's still a hint of "are we really gonna have this song and dance?" because Minato was not subtle at all in high school about his interest. It's just not as bad since it's we're not reading about Wataru being oblivious. We're reading about him being stubborn to preserve his friendship based on past romantic experiences. I love slow burns but ignoring the signs for 2 books and then acting surprised that they do love you back was definitely my limit. So, afterwards, I'm glad this is more about seeing them be cute together and Wataru slowly take Minato seriously after chapter 3.
Ya know what I did find much more annoying, though? Chapter 2 page 26. "I'm grown up now" "I'm the grown up Wataru" the hell are you, 15? What the fuck is this dialogue right now?
Bonus points for Lil' Boss. We respect Lil' Boss in this house.
When Hozumi returns to the island he grew up on, he is hoping to speak to Mishima, his close friend ...

That one person who was like Mishima deserved so much better followed by three throwing up emojis, I felt you. Your energy was so powerful and I felt you.
What do you mean we were going to have a "proper conversation", did absolutely nothing, and then have a sex scene...? What do you mean. Don't put emotions in front of my face like keys and then throw the keys out the window for a sex scene! Sure, they finally did talk but to should've been at the end of chapter 2 not whatever the hell that was.
On top of that, Kiyuhiko kind of rubed me the wrong way when making Mishima take on some of that blame. To recap: Hozumi broke up with him so he wouldn't be sad when he moves off the island for college but did not properly explain that. He comes back after 7 years to an angry Mishima and pesters until he eventually gives up and spends that time with him. To which Hozumi takes advantage of the situation and in a dubious consent kind of way haves sex with him instead of having that conversation that we all were promised, that they should've had and didn't happen until chapter 3 (which I still have a problem with how that went, to be honest). This felt Mishima frustrated and dazed to the point where he didn't attend to the lighthouse causing the boat Hozumi was working on to get into a little accident and Hozumi falling off. After that it all became his fault in Mishima's head. Even the high school stuff?? He already feels like he doesn't have his own backbone to say "no" or "let's wait" because of "those eyes" (I'm rolling mine), I'm just not here for that. I'm not ok with the person who has every reason to raise hell taking the blame and it's seen as a good thing. It's not like Hozumi doesn't blame himself for the shit he's done but Mishima shouldn't be blaming himself for anything. Even the lighthouse incident. Not after that chapter 2 ending.
Also... What thought processes did Kiyuhiko have to write Hozumi's brother coming out for him to their parents when previously she wrote was nervous about?? You don't do that. You don't come out for someone else no matter how understanding anyone is. I don't know, fiction is fiction but Jesus to fucking Christ.
Other than all of that, along with the art style not being my favorite to look at, this was just ok which I'm very sad about because the bonus chapter was everything to me. If this was just their high school year together followed by the breakup and a vol 2 with a better get back together story, peak 4 stars. I don't tend to look at reviews before hand but I kept seeing fine to mediocre being thrown around and yeah. Yeah, I'm feeling that. It's no My Summer of You, no Seven Days, and it damn sure ain't I Hear The Sunspot. I did like the beginning, it was actually emotional in a way I wanted from Send Them a Farewell Gift for the Lost Time but then the end of chapter 2 kind of ruined it's been a low 3 stars ever since

More of same feelings I had from the first book. But after reading both of these books I'm just kind of disappointed... The art's cute. Cocomi knows how to draw some really cute art. The more softer, cute moments in the story were very adorable. But what made this drag for me and had me praying for it to be done after chapter 3 was just the conflicts.
The conflicts where just kind of dumb to me and it all just came down to not communicating. However, there was a story reason why no one wanted to communicate which sort of gets a pass but still very annoying to read 17 times. I did like the end. I thought the end was cute. Didn't make me cry or anything but still a cute end chapter.

Why couldn't this just be a cute & heart gripping story about two friends mending their friendship and trying to be lovers? Why did this had to be littered with sexual harassment for no reason, conflicts and BL tropes straight out of 2010? What the fuck was chapter 3? I wanted to really like this, man...
The sad part is, when it's just about Rui and Roku being friends again and being cute together it is actually cute. There are a lot of really adorable moments in this but it's the conflicts that frustrated me because they felt forced. Rui thinking that Roku is cheating on him pissed me off the most because if his brain wasn't so gender locked I would've been a little bit on his side when he found those clothes but he got all worked up over mugs with hearts on them first. Like, dude, shut the fuck up. I've been going from "aww this is cute" to "I'm going to break some windows" and it's not been fun.
Art's cute, though.

Feel kind of bad giving this a 3½ because it wasn't bad, per se, just kind of emotionless. I had four problems with this story that 3 of them can be summed up as: I couldn't feel what the author wanted me to feel from how it was being shown to me.
This might be the problem of the scan, but the scan was only translating what was given and what was given felt lacking in substance. There were moments that you know you're supposed to feel sad or distressed or excited for them because you're seeing it happen. I felt like I was supposed to feel something during Suguru’s dream, during the conversation about Yuuma, the kiss, and how Kengo handled it afterwards because the art showed me these moments were impactful but the dialogue didn't help me feel anything.
It felt more like a the lack of communication and low emotional weight created a disconnect for me. Like this one part, I really wanted Kengo to say more after kissing Suguru. A sorry is fine and all but I wanted something like how he understood that probably wasn't the best move knowing that Suguru still holds very strong feelings for Yuuma. I just wanted more talking that felt like something. Suguru bringing up Yuuma was probably the best “emotional weight" this story had but because the dialogue was lacking, it didn't match the strengths of the art leaving me feeling nothing.

This is the most disappointed I've been about a book that I want to buy, am going to buy, and will read the spin-off of.
It started out really cute and I love both Sanjou and Shouya and how caring Shouya was towards Sanjou. The blog thing was incredibly adorable to me, not sure why. Something about reading Sanjou’s entries was just cute in a way where if I came across someone tumblr or line blog written like that I would absolutely follow.
However, I think around chapter 2 or 3 where we got our first sex scene, it just kind of went downhill? I don't think this story really needed any sex scenes in general but if you just *had* to write one it would've been nice to had made it a chapter 4 or 4.5 thing only. Despite how caring Shouya was, neither of them brought up the option of just waiting. Even if it was just for the 1st scene, having Sanjou back out from being scared and Shouya recognizing and respecting that would've been so good! I kinda understand why, though, Sanjou would keep pushing himself to do it because of how his personality is but we really didn't need 4 sex scenes.
I did find out that there's a spin-off that's I'm less interested because I didn't really like Ryuu or Ayumu from the time we had with him. I have a feeling that the author just wrote them together just because. Just because their friends are dating each other so now they have to date each other. I don't think there's a rhyme or reason for them to be dating and while I'm not down for that, I'm gonna read it. Might drop it but I will read it.

Putting this in the drop list even though I ///might/// come back to it. Even though I found the story not great, I know my main problem was the translation so if someone else come along to fix this up I'll look back into it and vol 2.

Another book that took me way too long to finish. Started reading this in August and didn't finish it til right now. It was so boring, there were these weird jump cuts(?) that made me feel like I skipped a page so it felt confusing at times, and then top that off with some less than stellar translation. I do feel like, if the translation was better, this would be a 3.5 for me. Yeah this was boring, but there were times I would've found this "boring but sweet" here and there. Besides the typos, the way they spoke felt so robotic. Not in a stiff robotic way but in a "real people don't talk like this" robotic kind of way and had a hand in why it took me forever to finish this. I'm not actually sure if I want to continue to the 2nd vol because of that main reason.
And then there's chapter 7 which had a character who was defiantly 18 and the other person defiantly over 20 and I was defiantly not here for that so I skipped it.
