This ain't it.
Fr. I don't understand why the ratings so high. People probably just don't know or don't care that its fetishizing mlm but this Webtoon is still wrong and gross.
I didn't send the full message. "I read this a long time ago (in 2016) in the app webtoon and I can't believe I actually liked this."
My young self really liked the shitty manhwas/webtoons/mangas. Good thing I stopped reading bl and realized my mistakes.
I agree, I don't think reading yaoi makes you a fetishizer but this webtoon is just gross.
Okay.
1) Seeing the colored version, she's not even that dark! Though this is an issue in east asian countries irl and i assumed this is what this story is representing, so i ignored that.
2) So she received a blessing that changed her skin tone to be lighter and people suddenly like her??? What the fuck? Why change her skin tone? Why not the dark aura surrounding her only? This is colorist. (meaning of the word>> https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Colorist ) What i wanted is for her to face these hardships but slowly change people's perspective about this. All she did was become pale and people did a 180° and started treating her better, what the fuck.
3) She turned dark again without an explanation? Was it temporary or did the author go "Damn okay" when reading comments criticizing the questionable part? Bruh
idk if i'll continue this, maybe after 10 chapters or sumn...
So my understanding is that in the novel they changed her skin color to white. This is because the dark skin comes from the dark spirit and by gaining power from the light spirit it messed with her skin color. Ofc changing people skin color like this is terrible specially since it has a "white=good" undertone. It seems there was backlash from the novel readers so the manga adaptation got rid of the skin bleaching. I don't know why in that particular chapter there was bleaching. In the raws I saw a few months ago, I'm pretty sure there was no bleaching.
i love this story, just everything about it is
