I thought of if the Emperor was actually kind and respected the mc. During the academy days he would notice the mc and think fondly of him. He would get closer to him. They would talk over tea and study together. The Emperor would confess to the mc and they would start dating. And after graduation they would still see each other in the palace. They would have secret dates together. At night they would the emperor would ask for consent before doing anything to the mc. And then they would get married. The Emperor would adopt a child from a relative to keep the royal bloodline going. And they would live their days out happily.
