Was wondering if anyone else was noticing this. I so love long manga series because you can see the art developing through each chapter, it's so lovely and interesting to compare the first few chapters to the most recent ones. I think that's such a wonderful quality that I feel is kind of lacking in today's webcomics and such, likely because posting page by page and getting immediate feedback kind of puts the artist in a stalemate, or it makes them feel more stressed by having to get chapters/pages out each week, making little time for them to look at how they're drawing or how it can be improved.
I feel like a lot of this can be owed to the fact that webcomics, even if they're being published by a company like Lezhin or Webtoon, it's mainly independent, they lack editors or proofers, typical of mangaka, that tell them what to change or improve. They post their chapter, people like, and on to the next. There are bunches of wonderful webcomics out there that have artists that continue to improve their art, but so many of the most popular ones today feel mass-produced just to sell and pull in as many readers as possible. And these people have good ideas, good stories, but the instant post-consume environment just feels unhealthy for developing artists and I guess now I'm mostly pointing at Webtoons and the masses of growing artists flooding the platform with stories that would typically be considered outlines, eventually backing themselves into a dead end because it doesn't develop and then comes the indefinite hiatus (or the stubborn pull-through of empty plot and decreasing quality artwork) I love webcomics because it opens up the entire internet to finding new artists everyday, but will these artists ever have the chance to grow and improve like this?
So bittersweet, Phos finally got rest. But at the same time it feels so lonely? Everyone disappeared. Everyone else got to fly away to the moon and happily disappear, no one tried go see Phos, tried to change things. It feels like no one was ever on their side, pretty much everyone just hid things from Phos till their plans worked out and they got what they wanted. They just vacationed up there basically till Phos came around to praying for everyone…at least that’s how it feels (;_;)
