I might get some hate from this but the FL and ML ARE technically family, though their relationship is not classified as incest. As an adopted child, it kinda sucks to read people saying “They’re not blood-related so they’re not family.” I’m well aware I don’t share blood with my family but that doesn’t make me any less of a daughter or sister. Obviously the circumstances that these two (the leads) are going through are most definitely not the same as mine which is where I can see where most of you are coming from. My only issue is that you guys are using the “they’re not blood related” line as an argument. But despite everything else, you have to admit that they are in fact step-siblings and they even shared a sibling between each other. I’m not telling you guys to hate on or stop reading because that is entirely up to you. Just remember to think critically and remember that incestual/familial relationships are not just a genetics issue, it’s also an ethical one. The only manhwa I had issues with and decided to drop quietly was “Beware of Brothers” (or something like that.)
I am not hating or judging on anyone nor am I trying to start arguments. I just want to offer insight as an adopted child with siblings.
For me it's not only about blood relation. Yustaf himself said he never though of ran as family/sister. Ran is spiritually not his step-sister as she's from another world and only came when the real step-sister died. And not long after yustaf went to the academy so they didn't get the chance to spend time as family. Ran might have said in the beginning that she wanted to be real family with yustaf, but she just meant to be in relationship with trust where she'd support yustaf as the next head. In the end she's planning to live away with new identity. That's bcs she doesn't really think of yustaf as family and she thinks yustaf doesn't think of her as family so she thinks she has to go instead of keeping the family relation. In this circumstances they're only family on paper and in other people's eyes. They are in fact step-siblings. But I don't agree that their romantic relationship would be incest.
I don’t disagree with you because their circumstances are not anywhere near normal and it’s not incest (since that does technically have to do with blood relations). I suppose I’m just a bit iffy in them sharing a name and sibling (RIP sibling lmao). But I can clearly tell, as an adopted child, that these two don’t share a familial bond the way me and my siblings do. I just got a bit irritated at people using the “They can’t be family since they don’t share blood” argument.
Yeah I can get that, I don't actually mind if they end up as family in the end. But just like you I'm kind of irritated when some people call this incest
actually, almost all the people around them using this claim to say that they are not a real family but enemies to each other to get power. if you want to get mad has someone, get mad at the people around them in this story that still see them as more enemies than family XD and still think that Yustaf will throw her away once he gets the head position back despite on paper they "step-siblings"
again if both ML and MC don't ever share childhood memories or see each other as family sis-bro - which they are not! I don't see them like family, it is simple has that for me! even if on paper they suppose to be family, what matters is what they feel and see in each other than the law, let me honest no one gives a damn about the law most of the time anyway.
someone can be your father by law, but he never acts or treat you like a real father, so he is not family anyway.

read the story and you see that they don't see each other as a family at all! it has nothing to do with blood XD the ML doesn't see her as his sis but has a woman he wants to marry and FL also doesn't see him as a bro since she comes from another world and he is a stranger to her. she just going with the plot cause that what she knows.
again if you don't see someone has your family, whatever you share blood or not, then they are not your family.
