compared to a lot of other mangas that mainly take inspo from japan or the west, magi takes its inspo from the middle east/the arabic world, mainly the 101 nights.
the world building is also insanely good where it talks about the socio-economics, role of magic, and what they provide to the world whether it be militaristic, wealth, slaver......
