Y'all know of any shoujo manga with female leads like misaki from Kaichou wa Maid-sama or Hikari from Special A? I just find female leads like them super cute and fun to cheer on. Also I'd prefer if they were longer, older style manga. The older art style is very endearing to me! (￣▽￣)
Kare kano (his and her circumstances) yona of the dawn (starts with a weak fl but quickly develops into one of the strongest female characters I can think of that takes crap from no one)

I second that “Kare Kano” aka “His and Her Circumstances” is a good read. MC is kind of like the girl from a manga called “Switch Girl”.
Both protagonists have a popular/likeable face they put on at school but act completely different at home. The love interest in both manga figure out the girls’ secret early on and a funny/ close relationship forms between the guy and the girl since they can be open with another
