I wanted to say this before, but I wasn't in the mood to type. People who compare this manhwa to The Beast Must Die seem to not understand that they belong to different genres. You obviously won't get the same "thrill" as The Beast Must Die when you read this one.
Here I really like the complexity of their characters and how their codependent relationship is shown. Plus when they're so fucked up their character development becomes more delicious. I hope there will be some though.
Honestly at this point I'm hoping that Bora ends up with Geon and Jay starts loving someone else. It seems the reason Bora has feelings for Jay is that he is her closest guy friend. She started to have feelings for him because of that "closeness." And Jay can be replaced easily as a love interest. It's going to be painful for Jay but Geon seems to be a better match. He understood bora in the short amount of time that they got to know each other and bora is more comfortable around him than Jay.
It's never going to happen though. And I blame the author's lack of courage or creativity or whatever it's called.
Imo, I don't think Geon understands her better. I think it's more a case of him being socially aware and emotionally intelligent enough to clue into facts that Bora has been stubbornly clinging to. What he's doing is nothing nice actually. What he's doing is taking advantage of the situation. He's basically taking his shot.
Also, the reason Geon 'understands' her better is coz he's seen a window into her more vulnerable moments. And why did Bora open up to him? Coz he was a nobody. At least he was until they found out they went to the same school. A total stranger is sometimes easier to talk to coz they have no room to understand both sides. What he was exposed to was her side. He was always gonna be biased to her. Even more so now that he has a crush on her.
You're totally right but I don't care that geon is not a "nice" guy. He knows his role and he's playing smart. Bora's not exactly the best either.
And yes bora opened up to him becuase he was a nobody but now he's not and she's still letting him into her personal space. I know it's mean to say this but I find bora stubborn, weak and pathetic. One of the reasons that I think bora and geon suit each other is because I haven't bonded with geon's character and I'm pushing bora to him.
Yup I agree. But if they do end up together, they're not gonna last very long. Bora being Bora would still keep on thinking about Jay and the obsession of 'friendship' being of utmost importance. Honestly, does she think they can genuinely be friends when she herself isn't being honest about her own feelings? Honestly, if she ends up with Geon, it would be her using him and yet be overthinking about her situation with her friends. Her mind is so complicated that she's bound to make terrible decisions (and if this was a more serious manhwa, her choices would lead to heavy angst-filled events that won't be worth much to read about.)
Sorry if I'm being too harsh on her. I've seen a few comments sympathizing and giving her some room coz her decisions are stemming from trauma. I get that. I also get that they're teenagers and are more likely to be emotional and whatnot. Still, she's old enough to know - if she thinks about it - that she's being a bitch to the actual people she cares about. It's the type of shit one regrets when they're old enough to look back on it.
Bora really needs to grow out of this funk. I just hope it doesn't end up being a trope of someone getting sick or get into an accident for her to decide what she actually wants.
agree with this one.
