maxi was abused as she grew up in that awful mansion by almost everybody, and the mistreatment continued up until she left with riftian. She has trauma, and a lot of it at that I have read the novel and she does get better over time.I promise it will be worth it in the end because she becomes a confident and happy lady because of her time spent with riftian and all of the people in the castle.
