i cried a lot reading this, but by far the only bl i've read with a grovelling seme and a chasing arc that the uke didnt give in and returned to him (seme). i know uke was still yearning for him even in his final moments, but at least the asshole seme didnt know that, and at least uke passed away in the arms of someone else who treated him better. hope more manga/manhwa/manhuas on grovelling and chasing tropes end up this way, except the uke doesnt die haha.
i want a twist in where the celestial beings actually have a hidden skill that makes them the *actual* most powerful race in the game but the game itself conceals it so no one knows and all the previous kings gave up too soon but mc found out hence why they're number 1. Like I know about mc's support skill but I guess I want something more to indicate he's a really good player of the game like how he figured out the situation in that other character's kingdom with his deduction skills and whatnot (i forgot the name, the one whose grand duke has posession powers). i feel like a hidden quality in the celestial beings would be great and justifiable, especially in a strategy game such as making your kingdom the strongest, because games like these usually give each of its races their own negatives and positives, and with the negative being great for the celestials (looking down on them hence other races taking advantage of them in a lot of ways), it would make sense for the positive to outweigh that and they just actually really needed a good king (which would justify the game's need for a king). but yknow, thats just me.
from being a long time reader of yaoi, i know that love is everything in this genre to the point that the psycho, obsessive leads are even heartily accepted by the main characters in the end ("my love is a murderer? doesn't matter, at least he loves me" kinda mindset) and clearly, the same logic applies here. but *personally*, i just feel a tiny bit sad bc this manga could have subverted that. everyone knows that in real life, too much love and obsession doesn't bode well especially for the person on the receiving end, and that could have been the end message for this one. i feel like maybe there was a tiny buildup to it, that one time when chiwoo kept insisting that he had to home bc jin cooked, and that could have been sustained. especially with jin willing to step aside because chiwoo loves hwan. like, i know yaoi mangas/manhwas/webtoons are usually meant to be taken as unserious and guilty pleasures, but idk... this just could have been more.
I totally agree with you on your statement about love obsession plots in stories, especially BL/yaoi. However I do feel that this one did a decent job of kinda subverting that dynamic. Yes Chiwoo still loved Hwan, even though he did all that bad stuff, but he liked him and relied on him for 20 years. That doesn’t go away over night but he knew the love was wrong and that is why he wanted to break their toxic relationship even if it meant him dying (I think it’s normal he didn’t want the one he loved and obviously suffering from mental disorderss to keep suffering). But I liked that in the end he ended up living the happy/toxic-free life he was suppose to live and Hwan was forced to deal with his issues without him and in that realized how messed up he was and that he needed to grow/not obsess over Chiwoo, which he could only do if he remembered the past, instead of him forgetting and getting off Scott-free. Technically at the end they aren’t together just friends with sexual tension/romantic interest. Wish Hwan could of had more struggles in his growing/it showing it but I was pleasantly surprised that the end wasn’t all forgiven for the bad partner and they get what they want without any real consequences.
i know it may be the mc's fault for agreeing and the friend apologized in the end but tf, who asks if they can borrow their place to do it with their girlfriend? i can at least understand if the apartment is not regularly occupied but that wasnt the case???? and not double checking if everything was clean after they did it??? they should be taking their trash out after lol. did they forget it wasnt a hotel but a friend's place??? good thing the mc was kind and understanding more than me because if i was in his place, i'd have been turned off completely and cut off contact because they lacked basic courtesy.
if you think rape is an appropriate punishment for something then u need to do some self reflection that u might be an asshole or admit to yourself that you just can't grasp how horrible it is because it never is and should never be deemed appropriate for any situation AT ALL. there are a lot of ways punishment or revenge can be inflicted, but not through rape. and before anyone comments that this isnt that deep and that this is fiction, unchecked mindsets like that are how we normalize violence into this world. there are several instances in history that we are now struggling with today because back then, it just "ain't deep".
